In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
~John McRae

We hope all take time today and reflect on those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Pleas have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Light Ohio Blue 2026 — May 6 through May 16. Honor the fallen. Support those who serve.
11TH ANNUAL
Light Ohio Blue 2026
HONOR • SUPPORT

May 6 – 16, 2026
lightohioblue.org •
The annual Light Ohio Blue campaign, an effort that reaches every corner of our great state, is fast approaching. This powerful initiative unites communities of all sizes with their local law enforcement agencies to honor Ohio's fallen officers and show support for those currently serving across the Buckeye State.
This year's campaign will run from May 6th through May 16th in conjunction with National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day. During these eleven days, Ohioans are invited to change their porch and exterior lights to blue as a visible symbol of gratitude and solidarity with the men and women who protect our communities every day.
Never Forget
According to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, more than 24,400 U.S. law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty since the first recorded death in the late 1700s. In 2025 alone, 111 officers made the ultimate sacrifice.
According to Ohio C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), Ohio ranks 5th in the nation for the number of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Tragically, four officers in Ohio made the ultimate sacrifice last year:
• Special Deputy Larry Henderson, Jr. (Hamilton County Sheriff's Office)
• Deputy Sheriff Daniel Weston Sherrer (Morrow County Sheriff's Office)
• Police Officer Phillip C. Wagner (Lorain Police Department)
• Trooper Nicholas P. Cayton (Ohio State Highway Patrol)
While we can never fully ease the grief and trauma felt by the families and agencies left behind, we can make a solemn vow: to never forget their sacrifice. We honor not only the fallen officers but also the families who have endured unimaginable loss in service to their communities, our state, and our nation.

IN MEMORIAM

Honor & Support
At the heart of the Light Ohio Blue campaign are two core pillars: Honor, paying tribute to our fallen law enforcement officers and their families, and Support, showing appreciation for the dedicated men and women currently serving, along with their loved ones.
What makes this campaign so powerful is its simplicity. Anyone can participate by displaying a visible blue light or ribbon, making it easy for individuals, families, and communities to get involved and show their support. This campaign is more than a tribute. It's a way to build new connections with the community and strengthen the bonds we already share.

Supporting Ohio law enforcement through events, photo contests, and community programs.

• If you’re planning to use ma*****na or any impairing drug, do not drive. Designate a sober driver who won’t be using any drugs or call a ridesharing service or taxi. Someone who’s high shouldn’t be making decisions about driving; that’s why planning ahead is key.
• It doesn’t matter what term you use — high, stoned, or wasted — never get behind the wheel after using an impairing substance.
• In every U.S. state and territory, it is illegal to drive under the influence of drugs — no exceptions.
• Whether the drug is legally obtained or not, drug-impaired driving poses a threat to everyone on the road.
• If you think driving while high from ma*****na won’t affect you, you are wrong: It has been shown that ma*****na can slow reaction times, impair cognitive performance, and make it more difficult for drivers to keep a steady position in their lane.

Good morning.

The National Weather Service has indicated that there is a possibility of severe weather this afternoon and evening. The forecast calls for showers and storms which will develop and move across our area. The time of most concern is from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am tonight. These storms may produce damaging winds, as well as large hail. Additionally, isolated tornadoes are possible. The Storm Prediction Center has updated the convective outlook this morning, placing Hamilton County in the slight risk category, including a 5% tornadic risk and 15% wind risk.

Today (2/19): Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon through the evening.
Timing: Greatest potential for severe weather is from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am.
• Severe Threats: The main severe threats are damaging winds and large hail. Isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
• Flooding Threat: A very moist environment will allow for heavy rainfall, creating the potential for quick runoff and flooding.
