Light Snow Expected Overnight; Hazardous Weather Outlook in Effect

Although it won’t be as heavy as the storm that came through earlier in the week, the US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington is predicting 1 to 2 more inches will fall overnight tonight.

Snow is expected to start falling this evening between 9 and 11. p.m. and continue until early Saturday morning.

❄️ Fairfax Connector has suspended bus service

❄️ County trash collection is suspended

❄️ Do not travel today unless absolutely necessary as dangerous driving conditions exist

❄️ Virginia Department of Transportation Northern Virginia District crews are working hard to treat roads. Be prepared for a multi-day response to this storm.

The US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Winter Weather Advisory from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. A wintry mix, including freezing rain, is expected during this time.

While significant impacts are not expected, the timing of this weather coincides with a busy holiday travel day.

I had the pleasure of speaking at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter's holiday party yesterday! This year has been incredible—the shelter staff has grown, the volunteer team has nearly doubled, and we’ve added a second campus to expand our programs into the community. These achievements have helped us care for even more animals. Huge thanks to the staff and volunteers for their dedication and hard work!
