Yelp Review: "My mom had lived with us for over five years when we finally decided that providing 24 hour care was getting to be too much for our family. It was a hard decision to make - but it needed to be done. My husband did all of the searching for places and making appointments to visit them. Overall we probably visited a dozen places in the area, rranging from private residential and larger/insitutional facilities. My sister came in from out of town one week end to vist our "finalists". Almost Home was the place we chose to place my mom. My sister also agreed that this was the place - a private residential home currently licensed for three residents. "Almost Home" was chosen for the following reasons: caring staff, location, facility condition and pricing. My mom moved in during April 2010 and we still feel that this was the right decision for her and our family. During her time there my mom has had ups and downs in her health. The staff has alway been there to help with any problems which have occured. They always notify me of any changes, problems as well as progress.. They work with her daily to keep her both physically and mentally active. There are areas outside to exercise, walk and sit. As my mom has altzheimers they work with her - performing memory exercises, quizing her about memories, pictures and familiy history we've provided. We visit her frequently (both announced and unannounced). She is alway smiling when we come. The staff is very caring and watchful of the residents....treating them like family. They welcome us whenever we stop by. It is as close to being "almost home" for my mom. I am very happy my mom is there and recommend you consider "Almost Home" in your search.

Yelp Review. "My mother had to be placed in a local Assisted Living facility in 2008. After three years I had become very dissatisfied with her declining overall care. It was overpriced, impersonal, unclean and unable to meet her basic physical and emotional needs. After searching my local community I found Almost Home. I met with Almost Home in May of 2011 and was very impressed. Very friendly, organized and caring. They were happy to answer questions and took time to discuss my mother's needs.

Almost Home is the perfect name for this facility. It may not be my mother's home but.....it is Almost. She began living at Almost Home in June of 2011. She has received the best care. She is truly a part of the family. She is treated with love, respect and dignity. Her days are filled with laughter, music, affection, and activities. I have the peace of mind knowing that her medical, physical, social and emotional needs are being met. The staff is caring, sincere, organized, creative and compassionate. My family enjoys visiting and spending time with Mother at Almost Home. The staff have truly become part of our family. We feel blessed to have such a wonderful place for my mother."

Actual Yelp Review "We made the appointment to meet the staff of Almost Home, a residential based eldercare nursing home. We also used that opportunity to survey & inspect the facility. I would suggest that anyone in the process of finding a nursing home for an aging parent/relative to do the same. Almost Home was the 9th facility we visited. We toured a mix of large institutional and small setting nursing homes. The interaction with the service providers was excellent...as was the physical environment of the facility.

I'm not sure who picked the name "Almost Home" but it is pretty much an accurate description. After living with us for five years my mother-in-law eventually needed more care than we could provide. Almost Home is not an institutional 24 hour care "warehouse" so don't expect one. The residential setting and small patient/resident population permits the direct "personal" care that you would provide in your own home. During our frequent visits we were always welcomed and never disappointed at what we saw.
From the day we moved her in the staff treated my mother-in-law like a family member instead of a "customer". Their care plan includes not just "passing out pills" but routine exercise, reading sessions and as the residents are able....field trips to parks, the Tidal Basin Cherry Blossoms, aquariums, shopping centers, etc.... All of those places you took them when you could.
Finding a place for an aging loved one is tough decision. We looked at nine before we chose Almost Home. While I hope it is a long time before it's needed again....I would use them again. I would recommend Almost Home to anyone that finds themselves in need of an alternative to the big franchised institutional nursing homes. Good luck in your search...."

We offer the best ratio of care that I know of. Never less than a 1:3 caregiver to resident ratio.
We offer private rooms and baths at/or less than what the large institutions offer shared rooms for.
