Good Morning! This will be our final bio as we have introduced to you the entire P.O.L.I.C.E. team. Please stayed tuned for future events and outreach from our community team.

Hello! My name is Cynthia! I have been a Dispatcher with Fairfax City since 2012 and 8 years before that with the Virginia State Police.

During high school I was invited by a friend to come and hang out at her rescue squad for an afternoon and I quickly fell in love. I earned my Emergency Medical Technician Basic when I was just 16 and Fire Fighter I certificate when I was 17. I have been volunteering ever since. Next year I will celebrate 20 years with my current Fire Company. I have held the rank from Fire Fighter all the way up to Captain and I am currently working on getting my Advanced EMT in my spare time.

At home I am married to my best friend and I’m a dog Mom to 4 wonderful pups, one that I adopted from here in the city after he was taken out of a really bad home.

Since coming to Fairfax, I have received some wonderful and beneficial training to better assist me with helping the public. Critical incident training, general instructor, hostage negotiation and active shooter to just name a few. I also helped setup our Peer Support Team and I am active in our police association along with the P.O.L.I.C.E. team.

Another bio from our P.O.L.I.C.E. team. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and Halloween candy!

Hi everyone! My name is Briana, but most people in the department call me BTG. I’ve been an Officer of Fairfax for about 2.5 years now and have loved every minute of it. I was born and raised in the mitten state (Michigan). I obtained my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Grand Valley State University, where I also studied Arabic. In college, I was an active member of my Criminal Justice Students Association and was the President of Grand Valley’s chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Since joining the department, I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of several different groups, including our Crisis Negotiations Team, Civil Disturbance Unit, Crime Scene Tech and P.O.L.I.C.E. Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a Police Officer, and I want to express my gratitude to both the department and the community for making my short time here so rewarding. “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”.

Wow!!! What a SPOOKTACULAR turnout this morning for our first ever Trick-or-Treat Trail! This was the first event the newly formed P.O.L.I.C.E. community outreach team has put on. All of the officers who have been posted on social media the past few days worked hard to make this event happen. 512 cars drove through! We were blown away with the support!! The event had to end early because we ran out of candy and goodies to pass out! That is after we went to the store 2 TIMES during the event to get more! We can’t thank the community enough for coming out! We hope to make this event even better for next year!
Happy Halloween everybody and be safe!

Hi everyone! My name is Noelle! I have been a police officer with Fairfax City since 2019. I was born and raised on Long Island but have also live in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. I went to York College in PA and have a degree in Criminal Justice with a dual minor in Legal Studies and Psychology. When I was 13 my dad suddenly passed of a medical emergency. A police officer came that night and spoke with our family and showed us so much caring and compassion. That officer is the reason I am a police officer today. I want to help people like that officer helped me. Since coming to Fairfax, I have become very involved in the department with things like The Honor Guard Team, Safety Team, and many others. I love working in Fairfax and my favorite spot in the city is the center of town since there are so many fun events that happen there!

Hello, my name is Sam Dee and I have been an officer with the City of Fairfax for over 4 years. Whenever I speak about what the best part of my job is, the first thing that comes to mind is the immense support that the police department receives from the citizens and businesses of Fairfax City. I feel truly grateful to be working in a jurisdiction that supports their law enforcement officers. I hope the P.O.L.I.C.E. efforts in our community demonstrate to the public the commitment of Fairfax City officers to community engagement and dialog. I believe cultivating safe neighborhoods is a collaborative effort between the police and the public. Please join us in our continuing efforts to build trust, safety, and lifelong relationships in our great city.

Hi everyone, my name is Sergeant Stephanie Sharp and I have been with the City of Fairfax Police Department for nine years. I am married to my best friend and have four children. I’m an animal lover and huge pit bull advocate, which has resulted in my family adopting four Pit Bulls named Zoey, Penny, Luke, and Saude (Shout out to Vindicated Pitbull Rescue!!). Prior to becoming a police officer, I was raised in South Florida and went to Appalachian State University as a Division I athlete for the App State Women’s Soccer team. In my down time, I enjoy being with my family, traveling, and have become quite the Doterra fanatic.

Hello everyone, my name is Hillary Rioux and I am a civilian employee that works as an Administrative Assistant for our Criminal Investigations Division. I’m originally from the Northern Virginia area and graduated from George Mason University. I have been with the Police Department for 3 years but I have worked for City of Fairfax Government for over 8 years! One of my favorite things about working for the City of Fairfax is being McGruff the Crime Dog for different events! I’m excited to be a part of the P.O.L.I.C.E group because I want people to see there’s so much more to this department than crime prevention and crime solving. The department is truly a community-based network of employees invested in the City, who care about making life here better for all of its citizens!

More from our P.O.L.I.C.E. team.

Hi! My name is David and I have been an Officer with the City of Fairfax for approximately 4 years. I started my career in Law Enforcement with Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department and transferred to Fairfax City in 2016. I was originally born in Vietnam but moved to the United States when I was 8 years old. I speak Vietnamese fluently and I have assisted different citizens with their translation needs to make their communication with police a little bit easier. In my free time, I enjoy playing with and building remote control helicopters, cars, and reef tanks.

We would like to take a second today and introduce our newly formed Community Outreach Group, P.O.L.I.C.E, to the public.

P.O.L.I.C.E stands for Public Outreach Liaisons Invested in Community Engagement and consists of 8 sworn/civilian employees. During the next few days, we will be introducing our members so you can get to know them! The group is extremely excited to start planning fun community events and form connections with the citizens of Fairfax City!

The mission of the P.O.L.I.C.E group is to forge lifelong connections between the community and the City of Fairfax Police Department through mutual empathy and respect. We strive to accomplish this through the ongoing exchange of innovative ideas, bringing awareness of the profession to stakeholders, while emphasizing our common humanity

Stay tuned for information regarding our upcoming Halloween Trick or Treat Trail Event on October 31, 2020! If you have any questions or would like to learn more about P.O.L.I.C.E, please reach out via email to [email protected]

Hello everyone! My name is Marissa Blake and I have been a Police Officer with the City of Fairfax for a little over 2 years and currently work Midnight Patrol. I’m from Minneapolis, Minnesota (Go Gophers!) but also grew up in San Diego, California. I married my high school sweetheart in 2018 and we have become proud dog parents to two rescues, Owen and Chloe. In addition to being a part of the P.O.L.I.C.E group, I am a Field Training Officer and a part of our Civil Disturbance Unit. As a member of the P.O.L.I.C.E group I hope that I can help foster a better understanding of the police profession as well as be an inspiration to young girls!

The City of Fairfax was recently made aware of a political mailer featuring what appears to be a cropped photo of one of the city’s police officers. Neither the city, nor the city’s police department, provided this (nor any other) photo for use, nor does the city permit the use of photos of its employees, officers, uniforms, seals or badges for political purposes. City police officers serve and protect all city residents equally.

As promised, another short introduction to a bilingual D-2 patrol officer.

My name is PFC Samuel Dee. While living in North Africa, I learned the Arabic language. I’m competent in Classic Arabic. I usually revert to Classic Arabic when speaking with an Arabic speaker who possesses a difficult dialect for me to understand. This strategy works very well. I have deployed my language skills on multiple occasions to include domestic violence situations and arson investigations. I hope to use my language skills to better the police and community relationships. I also want to help dispel some of the assumptions about law enforcement that may be carried over from countries of origin, which do not necessarily apply to U.S. law enforcement. My favorite Egyptian dish is Mulokhia.

Today and tomorrow we will be doing a short introduction to two of our bilingual officers who are apart of the D-2 patrol squad.

My name is PFC David Tran. I was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam. I learned to speak Vietnamese by living there until I was eight years old.
My hope is that the Vietnamese community will feel more comfortable in reaching out and interacting with our police department. In these ever changing times, having me be able to put those in the Vietnamese community more at ease will be an asset for the City of Fairfax. My favorite Vietnamese food is my mom’s homemade Pho.

Police Motorcycle School is considered one of the most difficult training school’s an officer can go through. Recently we had two officers become certified as Police Motorcycle Instructor’s and one officer pass basic Police Motorcycle School. Congratulations to these officers for doing their part to help keep Fairfax City safe.

Well, we have made it to Friday folks! We hope everyone has a safe weekend, and we wanted to share a quick message with you.

Did you know tomorrow is National Thank a Police Officer Day? Don’t worry, we aren’t soliciting “thanks”, just the opposite! Because in the city, we feel grateful everyday with our community, both residential and commercial, and we wanted to take this time to say thank you to some of our businesses. These businesses have remained open during Covid and some have helped our department during this pandemic. Additionally, they are just some of the restaurants participating in Fairfax City Restaurant Week and members from the D2 Squad stopped by recently to talk to them.

Have a good evening everyone and for some of our faithful followers, the mosquitoes should be on their way out soon!
