Well, it’s Monday and a start to a new week. Other than the obvious statement there are two other things I learned this weekend. One, it is still summer kinda hot in Virginia which brings us to number two. If you have followed this page for some time, you know my dislike of mosquitoes. Well, they are still here and I CANNOT WAIT for some colder weather!

Finally, did you know today is National Lazy Day?! Did not know that existed, but celebrate accordingly!!

Have a great day everyone and a safe week! 2020 has been an interesting one and let’s get through it together!

Yesterday members of the City of Fairfax Police Department were in Wisconsin to lay retired Sergeant Phillip Thiessen to rest. Phil always talked about the beauty of Wisconsin and how much he loved it there. Saturday night he gave us a beautiful parting sunset so we could enjoy as well! The Thiessen family, friends and police department members are appreciative of the support and to everybody who has reached out during this difficult time. We are grateful for the support of the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the Fond du Lac Police Department and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with honoring Phil.

RIP Phil-Forever in our hearts ❤️✌️👮‍♂️

It is with a heavy heart that our department announces the passing of retired Sgt. Phil Thiessen. Sgt. Thiessen retired in 2016 and was killed last night in a motor vehicle accident in Wisconsin. He not only served the citizens of the City of Fairfax with honor from 1990-2016, but also served in the United States Marine Corps. As you can tell by this brief array of photos, he had a great sense of humor and was quite the character. You will be missed by many Phil.

Summer is officially here and with the nicer weather unfortunately comes an uptick in thefts from unlocked autos. The region has experienced similar crimes and we would love to be everywhere, however we could use some assistance to help you keep your hard earned items. We put out guidance about a week ago about this and want to remind everyone again as cars have been stolen, etc.

A lot of jurisdictions have thrown out the 9pm Routine, and we have some easy solutions to assist you-Lock, Take, Hide.

▶️Lock your cars-and close garage doors, etc
▶️Take valuables inside, GPS, gaming systems your kids love, work laptop, etc
▶️Hide whatever you can’t take inside

Some have said they are out of order, but if you do each one, in whatever order, you will significantly reduce the chance of being a victim of theft and losing your valuables to opportunistic thieves.

Also, if you see something, say something or if your Nest, Ring cameras have captured something let us know as teamwork helps everybody with crime prevention.

Have a safe weekend everyone!
