Opening Day Update!

Mother Nature is not exactly giving us perfect pool weather today, but we are still going to open for a short window from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for anyone who does not mind chilly water and a gray sky.

It is also a great chance to come down and see all the work our volunteers have done over the off-season.

Today’s opening will also give our staff time to get settled in and continue preparing the pool for tomorrow’s party.

The forecast for tomorrow looks nice enough for everyone to still gather and kick off the season together, so we are looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

Thanks for being flexible, RFD. Summer is officially here… even if today feels a little confused about it.

The Rutherford Area Swim Club (RASCC) hosts The Rutherford Swim and Dive Teams, members of the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL). The Water Rats are entering their 60th season!

Opening Day is almost here! ☀️🏊‍♀️

This weekend is our final opportunity to get RFD ready before we officially open, and we need all hands on deck.

We are looking for volunteers:

🗓 Saturday, May 16
⏰ 11:00 AM–3:00 PM

🗓 Sunday, May 17
⏰ 10:00 AM–2:00 PM

We’ll be working on cleaning the bathrooms, putting out chairs and tables, sweeping the deck, painting the snack shack, general grounds cleanup, and other opening-prep projects.

Whether you can stay for a few hours or just stop by for a short time, every bit helps. Please bring work gloves and clothes you do not mind getting dirty.

🏊‍♂️ **RFD Cleanup Day This Saturday!** 🏊‍♀️

Opening Day is **3 weeks and 1 day away**, and we are making great progress getting RFD ready for the season. Thank you to everyone who has already helped with cleanup, painting, repairs, and prep around the pool!

Our next cleanup day is **this Saturday, May 2, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM**, and we would love to have as many helping hands as possible.

We will be continuing many of the same projects from our previous cleanup day, including:

✅ Cleaning the pool itself
✅ Painting in the bathrooms
✅ Painting picnic tables
✅ Getting chairs cleaned, organized, and ready to put out around the pool
✅ General cleanup and opening-day preparation

Whether you can stay for the full time or just stop by for an hour, every bit of help makes a difference. Please bring work gloves and clothes you do not mind getting dirty.

Our next official cleanup day will be **May 16**.

🚨 RFD Cleanup Day This Saturday! 🚨

We’re getting closer to Opening Day and could use your help this Saturday, April 25 from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM.

Even with a cloudy forecast, there is still plenty we can tackle, including:

🎨 Painting in the bathrooms
🎨 Painting picnic tables
🛠️ Cleaning up the guard shack
📷 Installing a shelf for the camera system
🍿 Cleaning and organizing the snack shack
🌿 General cleanup and opening-day prep

No special experience needed — just bring work gloves, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and a willingness to pitch in.

Can only stay for an hour? That still helps!
