Tuition Guarantee: We hold true to the belief, that every student has a right to feel secure about their tuition. We acknowledge that as the University grows, and state funding shrinks that George Mason will have to find new ways of generating revenue however
UNTIMELY TUITION INCREASES INHERENTLY PLACE AN UNDUE BURDEN ON STUDENTS. Thus we have resolved that Student Government should begin to push for reform with tuition guarantees. It is simple, when students choose their college, they never consider the tuition increases. If we are a college that truly seeks accessibility and to serve the students, as we claim we are, this is only a natural right of students. We also hold that every student at George Mason has a right to know how every cent on the dollar of their tuition is being spent. Tailgates: It is undeniable that we are lacking in school spirit, and the problem is much deeper than sports, it is a culture problem that will take careful consideration to address and time to fix. SCHOOL SPIRIT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IN THE SHORT AND LONG TERM, SO THAT PATRIOTS WILL TAKE PRIDE DURING THEIR TIME AS AN UNDERGRADUATE, AND AFTER AS AN ALUMNI (one alternative source of revenue). We have resolved that additional tailgating and pregame festivities for all sports teams would be a GOOD FIRST STEP in addressing the issue. WE ALSO RESOLVE THAT THE SENATE SHOULD ESTABLISH A COMMITTEE ON SPIRIT AND ATHLETICS, so that Senators are constantly engaging in talks with the student body, athletes, faculty, and administration. STUDENT IDEAS ARE THE BEST IDEAS and the committee would seek to hear from as many students as possible. Services: WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY STUDENT HAS THE RIGHT TO FUNCTIONING WI-FI, TIMELY HOUSING MAINTENANCE, AND PARKING. Our tuition is more than enough to pay for more routers, more maintenance staff for housing, and additional parking. These are simple issues that student government needs to take to the administration and demand the change YOU ALL DESERVE. Our promises are simple: Represent the students. Listen to them. Fight for them. We are one. Together, we can save $AVE Mason!
