We began registration for the upcoming Christmas Bazaar early this year because we sold out of tables last year. Invitations to past vendors were emailed out around July 27. We welcome all new vendors but items have to have some Icelandic or Nordic theme or value. If you would like to participate or have questions, please email Erna at [email protected]

The Embassy has teamed up with Focus Features on the occasion of the release of their newest film TOUCH. The film is directed by Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur and written by Baltasar Kormákur and Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson.

Icelandic jazz comes to Washington DC! Sara Magnusdottir will perform two shows at Blues Alley June 17.

"Sara has been an active performer on the Icelandic jazz music scene since age 20, and has performed at festivals such as Reykjavik Jazz Festival twice. Sara is also a passionate big band composer, and most recently wrote arrangements for Joe Lovano and the William Paterson University Jazz Orchestra. She has written for Reykjavik Big Band several times and gotten several grants for her composition projects."

We are offering two scholarships to two lucky individuals to participate in a three-week total immersion beginners program A1-A2 in Icelandic, starting July 22nd and running until August 9th, at the University Centre of the Westfjords in Ísafjörður.
You must be 21 to apply. Submit an essay of 500 words or so by June 1st telling us about yourself and why you think you should receive this scholarship. We would like to hear about why you are interested in learning Icelandic, what your personal connection to Iceland is, how you are affiliated with the association, and what Icelandic Association activities you have participated in. Send your application to [email protected] by June 1, 2024. Please visit our website for detailed information.
