It’s Crime Prevention Week, and Fairfield Police Cadets spent one of their last weekends before school trying to prevent crime rather than soaking in the last rays of summer!

Cadets were out in town conducting their Lock Your Door campaign, reminding residents to lock their vehicles and take their keys with them. A simple habit can go a long way in preventing vehicle thefts and larcenies. Before walking away from your car, take a second to make sure it’s locked and your keys are with you.

And apparently no one was exempt from the reminder... as the cadets couldn’t resist making sure the Fairfield Fire Department remembered to lock up too!

Interested in becoming a Fairfield Police Cadet?

The Fairfield Police Cadet Program will be hosting an Open House for prospective cadets on Monday, September 7!

The program is open to young people ages 13–21 who are interested in learning more about law enforcement, developing leadership skills, serving their community, and gaining hands-on experience.

The evening will begin at 6:00 PM with a one-hour information session for prospective cadets. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the information session as well. Afterward, prospective cadets are invited to stay and experience a regular cadet meeting beginning at 7:00 PM.

Monday, September 7
6:00 PM – Open House & Information Session
7:00 PM – Regular Cadet Meeting

Come meet the cadets and advisors, learn what the program has to offer, and see firsthand what it's like to be a Fairfield Police Cadet!

New members will be accepted following this Open House for a limited time. After that, the next opportunity to join the program will be in January. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information or questions.

The Fairfield Police Cadets would like to congratulate former Cadet Lieutenant Alex Von Ehr on his graduation from Marine Corps Recruit Training at Parris Island!

Alex spent several years as a member and leader of the Fairfield Police Cadet Program before taking the next step in his commitment to service by joining the United States Marine Corps.

Cadet advisors traveled to Parris Island to attend Alex’s graduation and celebrate this incredible accomplishment with him.

We are proud to see another former cadet continuing a life of service and wish Alex the very best as he begins his career as a United States Marine.

The Fairfield Police Cadets hit downtown Fairfield today to visit local businesses and ask for raffle prize donations for our upcoming Car Show!

They made plenty of stops along the way, including one for some well-earned ice cream.

Thank you to the businesses that took the time to speak with our cadets and those who have already donated to support the event. Every raffle donation helps us raise money for the Fairfield Police Cadet Program as we get ready for September 19!

National Night Out may have officially started at 4:00 p.m., but for members of the Fairfield Police Cadet Program, the work began much earlier.

Cadets arrived as early as noon to help set up the Touch-a-Truck area and assist community participants as they prepared for the event. Throughout the evening, they helped organize and run the Activity Passport and raffle, assisted with the bicycle obstacle course, operated a Child ID station, and stepped in wherever help was needed.

When the event ended at 8:00 p.m., their work still wasn’t finished. Cadets remained on site past 9:00 p.m., helping participants break down their displays and making sure the event area was cleaned up.

National Night Out is a community event, and our cadets played an important role in making it happen. Thank you to each of them for a long day of service and for once again demonstrating what the Fairfield Police Cadet Program is all about.

Last night, the Fairfield Police Cadets spent their meeting preparing for National Night Out.

Cadets helped set up Sherman Green, marked the sidewalks, and were briefed on their assignments for tonight’s event. After setup, the ranking cadets led a class on community policing, focusing on the importance of positive interactions, communication, and building trust with the community.

Tonight, the cadets will be assisting throughout National Night Out and providing free home ID kits for families.

We look forward to seeing everyone tonight and helping make sure everyone enjoys their night out!

This past Monday, following a rigorous interview and selection process, Cadet Lieutenant Morgan was selected and sworn in as Captain of the Fairfield Police Cadet Program.

Cadet Captain Morgan has been a member of the program for six years and has earned numerous awards and commendations, including:
- Crime Prevention Ribbon
- Advisor’s Merit Ribbon
- Unit Citation Ribbon
- Stations Day First Place Unit Citation
- Tactical Challenge First Place Unit Citation
- Service Project Ribbon
- Multiple Letters of Commendation

Morgan has also attended Connecticut State Police Youth Week and traveled to Las Vegas to participate in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Explorer Program’s ExCon competition.

Cadet Captain is the highest rank in the Fairfield Police Cadet Program. In this role, Morgan will help lead the program, mentor younger cadets, and work with the other ranking cadets and advisors to ensure the continued success of the program.

His six years of experience and dedication have prepared him well to take on this new leadership role.

We will be at the first ever National Night Out!

Fairfield’s first National Night Out is one week away!

Join us on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sherman Green and Reef Road for an evening of community, safety, and family-friendly activities.

Throughout the night, families will be able to enjoy public safety demonstrations, including bike safety and helmet fit presentations, a K9 demonstration, Flagman Safety demonstrations, and a Fire Department equipment demonstration.

Kids can also take part in our Activity Passport, visit community tables, collect stamps, and participate in the Activity Passport prize drawing.

There will also be ongoing activities, including face painting, balloon animals, Touch-a-Truck, food trucks, music, and more.
