Jacobs Memorial Foundation was established in memory of Chad Jacobs who passed away in June of 2010 at the age of 45 after battling with cancer for sixteen months. Memorial scholarships in Chad’s name have been established at Fairfield Prep and at Wonderland of Ice and will be funded from this Foundation. Chad grew up in Fairfield, CT and started playing youth hockey at Wonderland of Ice when he w
as five years old. Chad went onto play on the Travel A teams for Squirts, Pee Wees and Bantams at Wonderland of Ice. At Fairfield Prep, Chad was a member of the 1980-1981 Connecticut State Division I championship team and co-captain of the 1981-1982 hockey team. At College of the Holy Cross, Chad continued to play hockey and was captain of the team his senior year. In the late 1990’s Chad returned to Wonderland of Ice as a coach. The year before Chad passed away, he coached his son Mac’s house hockey team. Hockey and the education he received at Fairfield Prep helped Chad gain confidence, develop leadership skills and learn the importance of teamwork and perseverance. It is goal of the Foundation to provide children in financial need some of the same opportunities that Chad had growing up and, therefore, become all that they can be.
