Get creative this fall and explore the art of clay with fellow friends and 4-H members! Participants will create two seasonal clay projects: clay Thanksgiving pie magnets and clay leaves. This workshop also provides a great opportunity for youth interested in the Clay Visual Arts area. The items created in this workshop also serve as a project that they can take to the fair.

It's time to start ordering Project Books!

Members are encouraged to complete the project book for the projects they sign up for. 4-H members use project books to guide hands-on skill development. These interactive workbooks use the experiential learning model: experience, reflect, generalize, and apply, to turn hobbies and interests into structured growth.

Find out which projects require books to complete your fair project and get your order in! https://go.illinois.edu/WCProjectBooks

All project book orders will be placed through the following link https://go.illinois.edu/WaynePublicationsOrder

Families will submit one form per household. The First order deadline is December 4!

🦌We're still on the hunt for financial contributions to support our local Hunters Feeding Illinois program this season!

The success of the program relies on both financial contributions to cover deer processing costs and deer donations from local hunters.

Donating to the program:
Every $50 donation is matched with $50 from Feeding Illinois, which equates to one deer processing.

To donate online, visit donorbox.org/hunters-feeding-illinois. Donors are encouraged to include Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, or Wayne County in the comment box online to ensure funds are applied to the local program.

To donate via check: Checks may be made payable to Hunters Feeding Illinois and delivered to an Extension office in Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, or Wayne counties, or mailed to the Edwards County Extension office at 7 N. Fifth St, Albion, IL 62806. Donors are encouraged to include Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, or Wayne County on the memo line of a check to ensure funds are applied to the local program.

Donating your deer:
Deer hunters interested in donating a deer are asked to field-dress their whole, legally harvested deer, then contact one of the program’s participating processors to confirm donations are still being accepted. This season’s partnering processors are:
• Charlie's Deer Processing and Smokehouse in Bridgeport
• Legacy Meats in Sumner

For more information, contact the Edwards County Extension office by calling 618-445-2934.

10/01/2026

Illinois Extension offices serving Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, & Wayne counties will be closed Friday, Oct. 2, for a staff meeting.

Please feel free to leave a message with your county office, and all phone calls will be returned as soon as possible on Monday, Oct. 5.
