We have some new 300-level electives! In the Fall we will be offering EX 341 - Fundamentals of Corrective Exercise (prereqs - EX 240, EX 260). In the Spring we will offer EX 310 - Lifestyle Medicine (prereqs - EX 255, EX 290) and EX 351 - Applied Exercise Physiology. EX 341 and EX 351 will be offered in-person. EX 310 will be offered online.

Great new evidence from Warden et al. (2022) to support non-specialization in female runners. Runners that previously participated in soccer and/or basketball demonstrated significantly stronger bones and potentially more resiliency from future bone stress injuries. Besides being fun to participate in a wide array of sports at a young age, it seems it may actually lead to healthier runners! [Warden SJ, Sventeckis AM, Surowiec RK, Fuchs RK. Congratulations to Dr. Josh Lander who is this years recipient of the Clinical preceptor award. Dr. Lander of is a graduate of our masters in Exercise Science program and has been an adjunct faculty member for the Exercise Science program for the past 10 years, teaching neural control of human movement to our undergraduate students. In addition to that, he has served as a clinical preceptor for our undergraduate students providing them with meaningful clinical opportunities to help prepare them for their futures in healthcare and exercise related fields. Thank you for all that you have done for our students!

EX 299 students visited the state of the art Kerry Center of Excellence on Tuesday - home of Kerry County youth through senior level Gaelic football training. After a tour and insight into their training philosophy, Head of Athletic Performance, Jason Mcgahan PhD and 299 co-instructor/Kerry S&C coach Mark Evans, UKSCA, lead the group through the finishing touches on an introduction to the barbell sn**ch.

Kerry is the most decorated Gaelic football team in the history of the sport, and are at the forefront with their sports science and training development program for Irelands most popular amateur sport.
