🚔 Traffic stop leads to gun arrests 🚨

Deputies from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office Vallejo contract conducted a traffic stop for mechanical CVC violations.

The suspect vehicle initially accelerated away before abruptly stopping in the 700 block of 5th St. Two unidentified occupants exited the vehicle and ran away. Unfortunately they were not apprehended. The driver and rear passenger remained in the vehicle and were detained.

A loaded rifle with a 30-round magazine was in plain view on the rear passenger floorboard. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies located a loaded handgun with a 40-round magazine.

The occupants of the vehicle were arrested and booked into jail. The two unidentified suspects remain at large while this case is being investigated.

Earlier today at approximately 3:20PM, an inmate in a preliminary hearing at the Fairfield Courthouse ran out of a courtroom, running into and knocking down a Deputy District Attorney and damaging the courtroom door.

The inmate was pursued and apprehended during a short foot pursuit. We want to thank the Police Officers who were in the courthouse for their respective cases and gave chase, catching the inmate.

He was arrested and faces multiple new felony charges.

🏛️ CCW LEGISLATIVE UPDATE FOR SOLANO COUNTY RESIDENTS

Assembly Bill 1948 (AB 1948) has been signed into law, bringing an important change for California Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) holders. Beginning January 1, 2027, standard California CCW licenses will be issued for a three-year term—an increase from the current two-year license period.
Here is what Solano County CCW holders and applicants need to know:

🔹 Existing Permits: If you currently hold a valid CCW license, it remains active until the expiration date printed on your permit. Existing licenses will not automatically extend to three years.

🔹 New & Renewal Permits: Licenses issued on or after January 1, 2027, will be eligible for the new three-year term, provided all statutory requirements are satisfied.

🔹 Requirements Unchanged: While the license duration is expanding, all eligibility criteria, mandatory background checks, fi****ms training, and California statutory guidelines remain in full effect.
