Our hearts are heavy today.

Last night, what should have been a joyful milestone for Fairfield’s young people turned into tragedy. A graduation ceremony ended in gunfire, and families who gathered to celebrate were instead faced with fear and uncertainty.

This happened in our community. To our neighbors, our families, and to the children we are here to serve.

At CASA of Solano County, we believe every child deserves safety, stability, and the chance to thrive. Moments like this remind us how urgent that work is, and how much our young people need caring adults standing beside them, not just in courtrooms, but in their communities.

We grieve with the families and individuals touched by this violence. We hold space for those whose celebrations were interrupted by tragedy. We grieve for every person who was harmed, and for all the young people who should have experienced nothing but joy last evening.

If you are struggling today, please be gentle with yourself and reach out to someone you trust. Our community is resilient, and none of us should carry this weight alone.

To our volunteers, staff, and the children and families we serve: we see you, and we are here.

With care,
CASA of Solano County

May is National Foster Care Month 🩵

Across California, 50,000 children are currently in foster care, each with a story that deserves to be heard. CASA volunteers stand up for these kids, making sure their voices are heard in court, their needs are met, and their futures are brighter.

Here in Solano County there are 324 youth in foster care and we have 21 youth waiting to be paired with a trusting and caring advocate.

SACRAMENTO, CA — The California State Legislature introduced Senate Resolution 162 recognizing May 7, 2026 as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Appreciation Day in California.

This recognition honors the important role that CASA volunteers play in championing every child in foster care without compromise, in court, in school, and in the community, putting them on the path to a safe and permanent home.

Representing CASA of Solano was Executive Director, Erryn Eckhardt, who joined staff from the across the state on this momentous day!

🎉CASA was happy to join families, educators, and community leaders to celebrate a huge step forward for early childhood education in Vallejo with the ribbon cutting and opening of Rise Vallejo, an early education and community resource center.
This new center means more access, more opportunity, and more support for local families creating a space where children can learn, grow, and thrive from the very start. A safe space where families can find support, and connection.
Congratulations to all the local agencies who worked hard to make this effort a reality. The impact will be felt for decades to come.

🎉CASA enjoyed participating in the 4th Annual Cinco De Mayo festival organized by California Human Development and held at the Suisun City Harbor. It was a beautiful day where we got to celebrate Mexican culture while sharing information about what it means to be a special advocate.

What a great weekend at the Wings over Solano Air Show! ✈️
Thank you to all the volunteers who signed up and to those who were able to make it on Base. Each of you is very much appreciated.

Thank you, also, to Republic Services for allowing us to use their brand new EV garbage truck as a shield from the wind, especially on Saturday! We had a great two days sharing the CASA mission.

📍This Sunday (5/3) come visit us at the Suisun City Harbor participating in the Cinco De Mayo festivities!

Today is Denim Day. CASA of Solano stands with survivors of sexual assault.
Denim Day is observed every year in April as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The event began in the 1990s after a court ruling in Italy overturned a r**e conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. In response, members of the Italian Parliament wore denim to stand in solidarity with survivors and to challenge harmful myths about consent.
Thank you to the Fairfield Police Department's Special Victims Unit for providing resources and support.

Clothing is not consent.

Thank you to the City of Fairfield for recognizing CASA of Solano for Volunteer Appreciation Month! Our advocates are not only volunteers but also trusted, caring, consistent adults in the lives of youth in our community who are navigating challenging circumstances. We appreciate each of them.

At the April 21 City Council meeting, Vice Mayor Pam Bertani recognized Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Solano County in honor of Volunteer Appreciation Month. Accepting the proclamation was Executive Director Erryn Eckhardt, Councilmember Doriss Panduro (who is a CASA employee), and two CASA volunteers).

CASA of Solano County exists to ensure that every child in foster care is seen, heard, and not alone. Their purpose is to recruit, train, and support compassionate volunteers who advocate for the safety, well-being, and rights of children navigating the dependency court system. Volunteers work alongside judges, attorneys, social workers, and caregivers, with the focus on the child.
