The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)– Bryan District is proud to partner with Save Texas Moms, Fairfield Library, and the Baylor Scott White Health and Wellness Center’s Mobile Health Unit to host a first-of-its-kind community event in
Freestone County, providing families with convenient access to essential healthcare and child passenger safety resources in one location.
The event is scheduled for August 19, 2026, from 10:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Fairfield Library.
Save Texas Moms, a statewide nonprofit working to improve access to maternal healthcare across Texas, will host an on-site resource-and-referral tent for pregnant and postpartum mothers, caregivers, and families. Representatives will provide maternal health education, information about local and statewide support services, and opportunities for attendees to receive individualized referrals and assistance connecting with healthcare and community resources.
The event will also feature the Baylor Scott White Health and Wellness Center’s Mobile Health Unit, which is designed to improve access to preventive healthcare services for
women who may face barriers to care. The Mobile Health Unit travels throughout North and Central Texas, bringing healthcare services directly into communities and helping connect women with critical screenings, education, and follow-up care.
Services available through the Mobile Health Unit include:
• Preventive health screenings and assessments
• Pap smears (cervical cancer screening)
• Blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney risk screenings
• Women's health education
• Referrals and navigation to follow-up care and community resources
• Support for women who are uninsured, underinsured, or experiencing barriers to healthcare access

In addition, TxDOT – Bryan District will provide child passenger safety education and resources to help keep children safe on Texas roadways. Motor vehicle crashes remain one of the leading causes of death for children. While many parents believe their children are properly restrained, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that nearly 46% of car seats are misused. The best way to protect young children in a vehicle is to ensure they are correctly secured in a car seat that is appropriate for their age and size and installed according to manufacturer instructions. Certified child passenger safety technicians will be available to provide education and guidance to parents and caregivers on proper car seat selection, installation, and use.

7,000+ traffic stops. 70+ felony arrests. 30 DWI arrests. 36 warrants served, and much more.

That’s just the first month of Operation Safe Kickoff, a Texas Department of Public Safety initiative along the I-45 corridor focused on keeping Texans and the thousands of FIFA-related travelers safe.

During the operation, Texas Highway Patrol troopers have recovered stolen vehicles and stolen fi****ms while making arrests involving felons in possession of fi****ms, impersonating a public servant, multiple evading offenses, solicitation of prostitution, and cases that resulted in the rescue of a child.

Operation Safe Kickoff will continue throughout the FIFA events in Texas as troopers work to deter dangerous driving, remove violent offenders from our roadways, and help ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.
