“Stag Heroes” refers to those members of the Fairfield community—be they students, staff, faculty or others—who have strapped on their capes and flown from their homes, dorms and offices to help with any one of the many charitable or service initiatives the University supports. Be it for Special Olympics, a local soup kitchen, an after-school program at a neighboring elementary school, or perhaps an international service trip, Stag Heroes are everywhere!

Announcing the First Annual Ice Cream Challenge to benefit Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut The Fairfield University Department of Public Safety will join the Fairfield Police Department - Connecticut and Fairfield Fire Department in an ice cream eating challenge. The Department of Public Safety and the Fairfield Police Department will be joining forces on Saturday, December 17th to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics CT. An officer from each department will be raised 40 feet in the air in a lift beginning at 9am and coming down once we reach our fundraising goal of $5000. Santa is scheduled to be there as well and will be taking photos with children. Please stop by the Tunxis Hill Corner Shopping Center to show your support and Holiday Spirit!!

Torch Run is Tomorrow!! DPS Officers will be escorting the Law Enforcement Torch Run For Special Olympics and the Flame of Hope from Greenwich to New Haven on Friday, June 10th. The run will follow Rt. 1 the entire way. The Torch enters the Town of Fairfield at approximately Noon. Come on out and cheer on the runners from Fairfield PD and DPS, as well as the SO Athletes. The DPS Bike Patrol Unit will be assisting the Fairfield Police Department and PAL with a Youth Bicycle Safety Rodeo on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Jennings Beach. The Rodeo will be held from 9am to Noon in the parking lot of Jennings Beach, 880 South Benson Rd. Fairfield, CT.

The Bicycle Rodeo is Free and Open to any child 5 -12 years of age to encourage and develop safe bicycling habits in young riders.

The Bicycle Rodeo will include riding stations, proper helmet fitting, bicycle inspections, a raffle, and a family bicycle ride. A Limited amount of Free Bicycle Helmets will be provided to children who need them.

A GIGANTIC Thank You to everyone that showed up to support Special Olympics CT at our Jail N' Bail on Friday. With the support of our students, staff & faculty, we were able to raise a large amount of money and awareness for the Athletes of Special Olympics.

A special thank you to all of our partners in law enforcement that came out to support us! Fairfield Police Department - Connecticut Trumbull Police Department Southern Connecticut State University Police Department U.S. Army Reserve & FUDPS.

DPS Officers assisted with the Teddy Bears with Love program by dropping off teddy bears for local children’s charities. So far, bears have been dropped off at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Yale New Haven Hospital. Thanks to the Student Alumni Association and the Office of Alumni Relations, more than 950 bears have been donated.
