Today marks the final day of operation for Discover Fairhaven, the brand of the Town of Fairhaven's Office of Tourism, Community & Economic Development.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported our events and programs—our vendors, volunteers, performers, community partners, local businesses, and, of course...YOU!

Together, we brought thousands of residents and visitors together to celebrate Fairhaven's history, culture, small businesses, and waterfront. Through every event, grant proposal, advertisement, economic initiative, partnership, and meeting, the mission remained the same: to strengthen our community and bring people together.

It has been an incredible privilege to serve the Town of Fairhaven in this role. Thank you for your support, your encouragement, and for helping make Discover Fairhaven what it became.

Fairhaven's history, charm, and community spirit will always remain.

With gratitude,
Alyssa Botelho
Director of Discover Fairhaven

The Fairhaven Cultural Council is looking for community input—and they need your help!

Each year, the Council uses feedback from residents to help determine how local cultural grant funding is awarded. That means your responses can directly influence the types of programs, events, and opportunities brought to our community.

Past grants have supported:
🎶 Music performances
🎨 Art exhibits

📚 Author talks and historical lectures
🎭 Theatre and dance performances
🎬 Movie nights
🚌 School field trips

🇺🇸 Volunteers Needed for Flag Day 🇺🇸

The Fairhaven Lions Club is seeking volunteers to assist with raising and lowering the large American flag at Fairhaven High School on Sunday in honor of Flag Day.

Those interested in helping should gather:

📍 Fairhaven High School
• 8:30 AM for the 9:00 AM flag raising
• 3:30 PM for the 4:00 PM flag lowering

This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in a longstanding community tradition and help honor our nation's flag.

Following the results of today’s general election, we want to sincerely thank the residents who supported the Office of Tourism, Community, and Economic Development (“Discover Fairhaven”) and the work we’ve been able to accomplish together.

While the outcome means the department will be eliminated effective July 1, we respect the democratic process and the decision of the community.

As a result, the following programming is canceled:
• Food Truck Flavor Fest — July 25
• Swords & Sails: A Medieval Faire — September 19
• Olde-Tyme Holiday (Town Hall programming only) — December 12

Vendors who have already submitted fees for canceled events will receive refunds from the Town of Fairhaven. Details will be communicated directly via email.

Free historical walking tours provided through the Town will no longer be offered after July 1.

The Discover Fairhaven website will remain live through December 2026; however, no new events will be added to the community calendar after July 1, and social media channels will no longer be actively updated.

We also ask for patience during this transition. The Office of Tourism, Community, and Economic Development has managed social media across more than 30 Town of Fairhaven pages. As responsibilities are redistributed across departments, there may be delays or gaps in how information is posted. Town staff will be working to ensure continuity of communication.

Questions regarding Town services, attractions, or businesses may be directed to the Fairhaven Town Hall main line at 508-979-4023.

This Office reflects nearly 30 years of work, originally established as the Town’s Tourism Office and built over decades through the dedication of staff, volunteers, and community partners. In October 2024, it entered a new chapter as the Office of Tourism, Community & Economic Development, branded as Discover Fairhaven, expanding its focus to include community programming, business support, and economic development initiatives.

We are deeply grateful to the many residents, volunteers, local businesses, artists, vendors, performers, and visitors who have supported this work over the years. Together, these initiatives have brought thousands of people into Fairhaven and strengthened community engagement and local economic activity.

Thank you for being part of this work.
