Last night's cocktail reception fundraiser was a tremendous success. The turnout was even greater than we had hoped and I trust that everyone had as much fun as I did. I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support I have seen. It inspires me to work as hard as I can to make this campaign successful and ultimately serve our community with the dedication, integrity and effort you all deserve. I offer my profound thanks to everyone who contributed, to Joe Oliveira and Dana Dibiasio for the fantastic catering and facilities, and our outstanding campaign team whose leadership and passion are second to none. Thank you!

Our community needs to unite in its effort to share information and ultimately embrace a positive direction for our town. I urge everyone who cannot attend tonight's Wind Turbine impact forum to watch the television feed on local channel 18. The panel includes a group of independent experts with unparalleled expertise in sound, health, and turbines as well as representatives from the state Department of Environmental Protection, the developer and more. This is a unique opportunity to hear firsthand scientific information as well as rebuttals. Let's all engage, learn and contribute to do what's right for Fairhaven!

I turned my papers in to Town Hall on Tuesday making this campaign official. This should be an interesting race with five individuals who have taken out papers. As far as I know I am the only one to have completed the paperwork and turned in the requisite number of signatures at this time. This political race is on; here’s to keeping it positive, honorable and fair.

Why am I running?

I'm not doing this for me. I'm doing this for you: my community.

Selectman, as with any elected or appointed position in town government, is an act of service. It's not a glorious one; in fact it’s a fairly thankless, time consuming endeavor. It's a position in which almost every act or decision made brings the ire of someone who disagrees with you, all for little or no compensation. Why would anyone want this job? I do, primarily because of my genuine desire to contribute. I want to be of service. I love this town and want to do my part to ensure it always moves in the right direction. I also have a deep respect for the democratic process that we often take for granted. That form of government requires that certain members of the community step up and shoulder the responsibility of representing the citizens and acting on their behalf. I'm also confident that I'd perform this job well and I'm up to the task; an area that I'll expound upon in future posts.

While this page is about me, the service I seek to perform is not about me. It's about you.
