We're hiring! 📚

Fairhope Public Library is currently accepting applications seeking a highly motivated individual who is passionate about working with children of all ages, to serve our Fairhope community as a Youth Services Page. The ideal candidate will have a genuine ability to relate to children and their parents, be knowledgeable of children’s literature, provide excellent customer service, and is super detail oriented. The Youth Services Page will have direct contact with library patrons; applicant must have the ability to work and interact in an enthusiastic, courteous, and professional manner. Responsibilities include assistance and instruction with library materials, computer resources and services, as well as shelving, filing, and other clerical and light cleaning duties. Must be able to lift, reach, bend and move fully loaded book carts. Schedule will be 8 hours per week with shifts on Mondays and Thursdays from 4-8pm and may include occasional shifts on Saturdays and special events. Must be 16 or older to apply. What is a LUG? It's a Lego User Group! Our FHPLug is for kids ages 8 - 12, and every month we'll have a new LEGO challenge for them to try out, individually or in teams! For January we'll be creating Marble Runs!
Tuesday, January 18, 5-6:30pm in the Maker Space.

These classes teach about basic computer vocabulary and concepts. Although based on the Girl Scout Coding for Good curriculum, they are open to anyone who wants to learn the basics! Please sign up for your age group on Eventbrite.

Do you have some nice plastic shopping bags that are just too fancy or cool to throw away? Bring them up to the Maker Space on Monday, January 10 and we'll make them into a reusable bag perfect for carrying your lunch or snack! For adults and teens ages 12 and up, upstairs in the Maker Space, 5:30 - 7PM.
