Advocates for Homeless & Those in Need (AHTN) is a Bucks County interfaith nonprofit that serves the homeless and those in need by providing year-long access to emergency shelter, food, and other life-sustaining services, with dignity and compassion. We envision a community where no one is homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.

Thanks again to our friends Lykon Automotive for helping us get our bus back on the road.

Should you need service on your vehicle, we highly recommend Gerard's Team at Lykon! They have helped us to keep our vehicles safe & running for our Volunteers and guests for the last few years. Not only are they great to work with, they also ensure our vehicles are repaired in a timely manner.

Today was a great day to wash our Code Blue guests cots!

Thank you to our AHTN Volunteers who came out to help as without you, this task couldn't have been completed. We know our shelter guests will appreciate sleeping on a nice, clean cot this winter!

We also would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to Woodside Church for the use of their parking lot & hose bib. We are grateful for your continued support.

In just a few months our 15th Code Blue season will begin. Be on the lookout for more information about all our Volunteer opportunities as we are always in need of new members to join our Volunteer Team!

Volunteer Opportunities: Advocates for Homeless & Those in Need (AHTN) has volunteer opportunities for anyone interested in helping the vulnerable community in Lower Bucks County..

AHTN Volunteer Drivers: You do not need a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) to drive AHTN’s 15-passenger vehicles.

One opportunity is to drive our vehicle to pick up our homeless friends at our 4 bus stops in Lower Bucks and bring them to a house of worship for a sit-down community meal. You get to enjoy a delicious meal with our friends and the community. This position is needed all year long and starts at 5:00 pm and ends at around 8:00 pm.

Another volunteer driver opportunity is during Code Blue (Dec. 1 through March 31). You drive one of our 15-passenger vehicles to pick up our homeless friends at 4 bus stops in Lower Bucks and bring them to our Code Blue winter shelter when the temperature is 26 degrees or below, including wind chill. This job starts at 8:00 pm and ends around 9:00 pm - 9:30 pm.

AHTN Volunteer Bus Attendants: The attendant accompanies the AHTN Driver in our vehicle. You greet our homeless friends as they get on the bus to go to either houses of worship for a meal (5:00 pm - 8:00 pm) or to Code Blue winter shelter (Dec. 1 through March 31) (8:00 pm - 9:30 pm or an early morning shift to bring them back to their encampment).

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS POST!! Contact Hilary at [email protected] if you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities or visit our website: https://www.ahtn.org/volunteer-with-ahtn to get started!

If you are looking for some family fun in the weeks ahead, be sure to mark your calendar for Friday, July 19th as our friends at Knights of Columbus, St. Ignatius are hosting a Friday "Knight Cruise" from 6pm to 9pm at the church.

There will be lots to do for everyone! Check out some beautiful cars, dance along with the DJ, enjoy some great food from the food trucks & more! If you have a "show car" you can register to bring it along and show it off too. All the details are listed on our website under resources/local events.

This event will be supporting AHTN, so please share this with your friends and family. We hope you will plan to come out to "cruise" for a good cause!

We celebrated our Volunteers last night at a volunteer's home. Thanks to the Lyons family for hosting!

Frank, a board member, donated a gift basket that was raffled off and our Volunteer, Patty, won. Everyone brought a dish to share, and it was all amazing!

Without our Volunteers we couldn't support Those in Need. We cannot say Thank you enough to everyone! We really appreciate you and all you do.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yardley recently participated in a matching challenge during Lent. The challenge was to raise $5,000 from the congregation during the weeks leading up to Easter. The church would match the $5,000 so it was called a Lenten Challenge. Karen Mineo spoke to the congregation about AHTN’s missions and challenges in February. The church’s congregation was incredibly generous leading up to Easter and recently presented a check to AHTN for over $12,000. Thank you to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for your generosity. We appreciate the funding to keep our missions operating.

Our 15th Code Blue season has come to an end. This week our AHTN Volunteers cleaned up guest bedding bags to go to the laundromat & then Volunteers helped to pack up all the CB shelter supplies and returned them to our storage garage until next season.

We would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to all our AHTN volunteers who helped make this CB season possible. Without their service, our shelter could not have opened 50 nights this winter!

We also would like to say Thank you to our CB Shelter Hosts: Shir Ami, Woodside Church, Calvary Baptist Church & Morrisville Presbyterian Church. Without your partnerships our guests wouldn't have anywhere to go when the nights are cold.

THANK YOU to Dan Marrazzo and his team at The Laundry Depot for their partnership as well! Without them our guests wouldn't have fresh, clean bedding each night as they kept our guests bedding clean all season long!

Thank you to everyone in the community who donated supplies along with monetary donations this season. Your support ensured our guests had the items they needed to navigate through each day.

As you can see, it truly takes a village to operate our Code Blue Shelter. 🩵💙 All of us at AHTN are extremely grateful to everyone and the support they give to those in need.

Last night at our Code Blue Shelter, Salute 2 Service Bucks County, Veteran's Affairs along with the Bucks County Sheriff's Office came in to offer supplies to guests. They were given socks, coats, toiletries & shoes. As guests left the shelter this morning, they were also given a blessing bag that was provided by these groups.

Thank You to Matthew Allen for organizing this night. There were a lot of moving parts to this, you did an amazing job! We also want to say Thanks to Rodney Wyatt of Salute 2 Service Bucks County and Officer Todd Kessler for bringing your teams with you as well. Our guests were grateful for everything they received as nothing is better than a warm coat, some dry socks and new shoes after a cold/rainy day.

Thanks everyone for your support to our shelter! Due to an overwhelming response, we have updated our Amazon Wish List with additional items. https://a.co/dmpCfbq

Also, if you would like to help us offset some of the cost for paper goods and food for our host sites, monetary donations can be made directly to our website: https://ahtn.networkforgood.com/projects/207707-helpingourneighbors

All of us here at AHTN are extremely grateful for your support to us and those in need. Thank You so much!

DONATIONS NEEDED!

This season our Code Blue shelter is seeing higher guests numbers as the overnights have been much colder then the last few winters. With these higher guest numbers, our supplies at the shelter are running out quickly.

Currently our BIGGEST need is of sweatpants, ALL sizes, both men & women. We are also always in need of handwarmers as guests are given these when they leave our shelter each morning. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated to us!

You can reach out to our Donations Coordinator, Andrea at [email protected] or you can shop through our Amazon Wish List: https://a.co/dmpCfbq

Without the support from our local community, we wouldn't be able to do what we do, so we want to say Thank You!

Karen Mineo & Steve Schlussel accepted a check this morning at Tyler State Park at another one of Bucks County Roadrunners (BCRR) races. AHTN received $9,000 from BCRR’s Turkey Trot race participant registration fees on Thanksgiving. This incredibly generous donation will help AHTN continue to run our missions.
Thank you, BCRR.

Today our Program Consultant, Crystal Myers spoke with Shaynah Ferreria at FOX 29 about our Code Blue Shelter and the need for Volunteers due to higher guests numbers this season.

Without out Volunteer team, the shelter doors cannot open. We are blessed to have so many selfless individuals who work at our shelter during the winter months, but with the higher guest numbers, more help is needed!

Thank you to Shaynah & Fox 29 for taking the time to meet with us and share our story.
