Albert Wright, Jr., CEO of WVU Medicine, discusses Health and Hospital Services in
Fairmont and West Virginia

By now most people have learned of the dilemma of the Friendship Room in being asked to relocate. The County Commission has listened to concerns from the Day Report Center on incidents and thus, has decided to give the Friendship Room until May 1st to find another location. Not being privy to certain conversations, but having discussed this with some in leadership positions, I do feel that there are 3 Major Difficulties: (1) Availability of downtown or near town space with type of program being offered (2) Excessive amount of rent being asked (from what is being shared) and lack of funds available to the Friendship Room (3) Time Frame for location. With many on board wanting to help, and good intentions involved, I am hopeful a solution can be found in the near future. If not, over 100 individuals and families will have fewer or perhaps no alternates for assistance in such things job resumes, bus tickets, rapid re-housing, referrals, counseling, a supportive network, and new life possibilities. Individuals and I believe a group or two are examining every possible location- from Downtown to High Street, from Merchant to Maple Ave., and from the Southside Historic District to Locust and Cleveland Ave. Specific comments would be welcomed- such as This building will offer you space for $$ a month or I have talked to so and so and they are willing to discuss this possibility. Would prefer not to hear, "Consider this place, or have you looked here, or I hear this facility is available."

So pleased the Faimont City Council honored Adams Office Supply at its Tuesday's meeting. Perhaps our downtown 2020 Pledge and Reconciliation Pledge to support it and Friendship Fairmont is truly showing how all of us can work together. I heard the Adams Office Supply has truly been blessing Fairmont in significant ways. Thanks Eddie and staff.
