Our May Monthly Meal was proudly delivered to the incredible officers and support staff of the Fairmont Police Department, W.Va. . πŸ’™

This month’s meal was delivered by Jon Griffith, a member of our Board of Directors and Race Committee, along with Board Member Shawn Morgan and her husband, Tim, one of our most amazing volunteers. We are so grateful for all three of them and their willingness to give their time, energy, and heart to help us continue this initiative and support departments across our region.

It was such a joy to serve the men and women of Fairmont PD and spend time showing appreciation for all they do for their community each and every day. Opportunities like this mean so much to us. We love our officers, we pray for them, and we always look forward to moments where we can spend time encouraging and supporting those who serve.

And of course, their K9 received a special treat too πŸΎπŸ’™

This initiative is deeply important to our foundation. Our goal is to continue reaching as many officers and departments as possible with these meals and acts of appreciation, not just during Police Week or special occasions, but year-round. As we continue to grow, we hope to expand this effort even further with volunteers across the state helping us reach more communities and departments throughout West Virginia.

Thank you, Fairmont Police Department, for welcoming us and allowing us the opportunity to visit and serve your department. Our hearts are always full after days like these.

And thank you to our supporters and donors who continue to make this mission possible. πŸ’™

This week is National Police Week. At tonight's city council meeting, Mayor Bolyard presented our staff with a proclamation recognizing Fairmont PD!

National Police Week is a time to honor the law enforcement community and to recognize those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. We would like to thank Council for their support this week and throughout the year.

While Police Week for some agencies highlight the growing disconnect between city councils and local law enforcement...our agency is fortunate to have a legislative branch that supports our mission and makes us feel appreciated during the official national observance.

We will do our best and thank you for, "Having our 6!"

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Akin to this is the Denim Day Campaign, April 29th. This day all PD staff, including uniformed officers, can wear jeans.

If personnel are asked about why we are wearing jeans, the opportunity arises to explain that this is a campaign to bring recognition to Sexual assault awareness month -set aside for the purpose of educating others, prevention techniques, and resources available to the community for survivors of sexual assault.

If you're seeing this post and wondering, "why jeans," and where the meaning behind denim came from, please take the time to get more info here: https://www.denimdayinfo.org/about

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of retired Police K9 copper this week.

Copper proudly served with Fairmont PD from 2014–2019 as a tracking and trailing hound, helping locate missing individuals and track suspects throughout his career. His dedication and service made a lasting impact on our community.

Copper was deeply loved, especially by his handler, Deputy Chief Frost and his family, whom he shared an unbreakable bond with. Copper was 13 at the time of his passing and lived his best life on-duty and in retirement.

Thank you for your service, Copper. You will always be remembered. πŸΎπŸ’™
