September is National Recovery Month. This month, we want to highlight Recovery in Motion, one of our local partners who "aspires to break the chains of addiction so the light of recovery can shine brightly for all."

Recovery in Motion has been working to increase access to naloxone (Narcan) in our communities and to teach people how to use it. With a grant from the Martin County Opioid Settlement Fund, they have launched a media campaign that helps raise awareness about Narcan and how to respond fast to an overdose ("DON’T JUST STAND THERE. SPRAY SOMETHING."). Through this effort, they are taking steps to reduce stigma and connect people with the help they may need.

Thank you to Recovery in Motion for the positive impact you are making in our community! Learn more about programs they offer at recoveryinmotionmn.com

September is National Preparedness Month. Did you know there are low and no cost ways to prepare?

Talking with your family about what you might do during an emergency is a great place to start. Making a plan for what you might need if you ever had to shelter in place or quickly leave your home (and sharing your plan with loved ones) is another great way to prepare with low or no cost.

It's National Preparedness Month and we want to share a few tips that anyone can use to help prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies or disasters we might face.

Tip #2: Build an Emergency Kit
An emergency kit should include things that will support your basic needs for a few days - whether you have to leave your home quickly or remain in your home during an emergency (like a power outage during a winter storm).

Emergency kits don't have to be expensive or take up a lot of space - you can right size it for your family and budget. Start with a few items based on what you, your family, and your pets need and then add to it over time.

Ready.gov has tools to help get you started, including emergency supply lists: https://www.ready.gov/kit
