As workforce needs continue to change, employers are thinking differently about how to retain talent, prepare for transitions, and grow employees from within. Mentorship, sponsorship, and succession planning are three practical strategies that can help organizations strengthen internal talent pipelines, adapt to changing workforce needs, and prepare for the future of work.

This Workforce Wednesday will explore how employers can support employee growth, create clearer pathways for advancement, transfer institutional knowledge, and prepare for future leadership or critical-role needs. The conversation will focus on practical ideas organizations can consider, whether they are just beginning this work or looking to strengthen existing efforts.

Participants will hear perspectives on how intentional talent development can support retention, continuity, and long-term workforce readiness.

Child Care Provider Training Courses through First Children’s Finance

Registration is now open for upcoming child care provider training courses through First Children’s Finance! These courses also include a Develop registration ID, allowing providers to track completed courses toward their annual training hours.

🏦 New funding options are available to support childcare in Sherburn.

The Sherburn Economic Development Authority has updated its Revolving Loan Fund to better support childcare providers through expanded gap financing options.

If you're looking to start, expand, or improve a childcare business, the Revolving Loan Fund may help bridge the gap between your available financing and the total cost of your project.

A few important things to know:

✔️ This is gap financing designed to complement other funding sources.

✔️ This is a loan, not a grant. Loan funds must be repaid according to the terms of the loan agreement.

✔️ Updated loan options, competitive interest rates, and more flexible repayment provisions are now available for eligible childcare projects.

These updates are another way the Sherburn EDA is investing in our community by supporting entrepreneurs, expanding access to quality childcare, and strengthening our local workforce.

Looking for additional funding? The Sherburn EDA also offers the Childcare Development Grant Program, giving prospective and existing childcare providers another resource to help make their projects a reality.
