Hello everyone!

We’ve heard your complaints about the speed of some drivers throughout Fairplay, and we’ve listened. While our officers try to stop speedy drivers coming through our town, we unfortunately can’t be everywhere at once.

We have worked to find a solution to bring down driving speeds in town where it is especially important for safety.

Along Highway 9 and Highway 285 there will be photo speed enforcement. This message is to advise that this system will be going up soon.

Nothing matters to us more than safety, for everyone who lives here, drives on our roads, or walks through our beautiful town.

We know that this system may create confusion, so we’ve added some information on speed studies done in areas similar to ours that have installed this system.

The state has approved our stretch of highways within city limits to be an AVIS Corridor or Automatic Vehicle Identification System corridor. Specifically, our cameras are not FLOCK cameras and can NOT be accessed to watch, track, or surveil. They can only be viewed as videos of a vehicle passing them at the set speed over the limit required to trigger the system to photograph/video the license plate of the vehicle. Again, this system is for speed enforcement only.

Overall, it has been seen to lower speeds, make accidents less frequent, and protect the public both walking and driving. Your safety is our #1 priority in Fairplay.

We hope to see similar results to the ones below and once it has been up and running a while, we will share updates showing its effectiveness. Thank you!

Well, quite the surprise that we ran out of 120 burgers, hotdogs and all of our ice cream! Plenty of kids got to enjoy the bounce house, get their face painted, and even leave with some cool stuff! Thank you to the community for supporting such a fun and important event! See you next year!

Update, owner found!

Fairplay! We need help finding this dog’s owner! This guy was found at the Rec center and is now with Fairplay PD. To help narrow it down, he has 3 legs so it should be easy to find the owner! If you’re the owner call 719-836-4121 option 5! Thank you all!

Fairplay, we need your help!

While we love dogs as much as you all do, we need the community’s help to keep them all safe! We’ve had a rise in the amount of incidents where dog owners are letting their dogs have a bit too much freedom.

Remember, the Town of Fairplay does have an ordinance (7-6-120 Animals at large) prohibiting dogs being off leash unless they are properly contained on your property! This is to keep your dogs safe, as well as other people and dogs that might be out for a walk!

While we will gladly help if they get away, we would like to encourage citizens to be mindful of their animals when out and about to make sure there are no dogs fighting, biting, or going out into traffic!

Hello all! Happy 250th Independence Day weekend!

Although it is a time for celebration for our country, we ask that you celebrate safely, with consideration for the dangers we face in our beautiful county.

Reminder that Fairplay does NOT allow fireworks of any kind (excluding handheld sparklers). Remember our county is in a fire ban as well due to the danger of wildfires.

The Fairplay Police Department will enforce this ordinance with ZERO tolerance!

Please keep our beautiful town and county safe for all our residents and wildlife!

Today we were honored to present the local Boys and Girls Club with the proceeds from our Halloween patches! The public supported that program very well!

Fortunately, we were able to generate $760.00 for the local club. We aim to grow the program with future installments supporting local causes.

Thank you to everyone for their support and hopefully continued support of these wonderful organizations in our community!

We had the wonderful opportunity to show up for the Edith Teter Preschool Fun fair today along with South Park Ambulance District, Fairplay Public Works, Northwest Fire, and CDOT! It was amazing getting out and engaging with the community!
