Fertilizer plays an important role in keeping lawns healthy, but when it lands on hard surfaces like sidewalks and driveways, it doesn’t stay put. Rain can carry those nutrients into storm drains that flow directly to our local creeks and wetlands, contributing to algae growth and harming aquatic life.

Here are a few simple ways to help keep Perinton’s water clean:
🧹 Sweep any excess fertilizer back onto your lawn
🌧️ Avoid applying fertilizer before rainfall is expected

Small actions at home make a big difference for our community’s waterways.

This Father's Day, we're recognizing one of nature's most protective fathers - the Canada goose.

Male geese, known as ganders, stand guard while eggs are incubated and help protect their families long after the goslings hatch. It's not uncommon to see an entire goose family traveling together throughout the summer as parents guide and watch over their young.

If you encounter a goose family while driving, slow down and give them plenty of space. Goslings are often on the move this time of year, and taking a few extra moments to let them cross the road can help keep these families safe.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandfathers, father figures, and wildlife dads helping guide the next generation.

Last night the Perinton Amphitheater was filled with improvisation, energy, and unforgettable moments as Umphrey’s McGee and moe. brought their signature sounds to the stage. 🎶

Umphrey's McGee delivered a genre-defying performance that blended progressive rock, funk, jazz, metal, electronic influences, and more into a dynamic set that kept the crowd engaged from beginning to end. Constantly evolving and impossible to categorize, the band created an immersive live experience that showcased the creativity and musicianship that have made them a fan favorite. 🌟

moe. followed with a set full of adventurous jams, masterful musicianship, and the kind of spontaneous energy that has defined their place in the jam band scene for decades. Their mix of thoughtful songwriting, showmanship, and mind-bending musicality had the audience dancing, cheering, and fully embracing every moment. 👽

Thank you to Rochester Events for another incredible night of live music in Perinton, and to everyone who came out and brought such great energy to the amphitheater.

🎟️ Additional concerts are still to come this season. Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated recognition of the end of slavery in the United States.

On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger, a native of Sodus, New York, arrived in Galveston, Texas, and issued General Order No. 3, enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation and announcing freedom for the last enslaved Americans. Juneteenth has been celebrated since the late 1800s and became a federal holiday in 2021.

📍 In observance of Juneteenth:
➡️ Town Offices are closed today, Friday, June 19.
➡️ The Perinton Community Center remains open.

☀️ Please note that Town Hall will reopen Monday, June 22, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM under our early summer hours.
