VILLAGE OF FAIRPORT APPOINTS ANDREW WHITAKER AS CHIEF OF POLICE
Whitaker brings more than 23 years of law enforcement experience to the role
FAIRPORT, New York – The Village of Fairport is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Whitaker as the Village’s next Chief of Police. Whitaker will officially begin his role on July 7.
Whitaker brings more than 23 years of law enforcement experience, including leadership in patrol operations, departmental administration, public safety planning, and policy implementation. He most recently served as Captain of Patrol Operations with the Irondequoit Police Department.
“Andrew Whitaker brings the experience, judgment, and steady leadership needed to lead the Fairport Police Department,” said Village Manager Bryan White. “His background in law enforcement leadership and community-focused policing makes him well suited to serve the Village of Fairport. We look forward to welcoming him to our team and working with him in service to our residents, businesses, and visitors.”
Whitaker’s law enforcement career includes service with the Irondequoit Police Department, City of Geneva Police Department, and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He is a New York State Certified Police Officer and holds a degree in criminal justice from Monroe Community College.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Village of Fairport as Chief of Police,” said Whitaker. “I look forward to working with the officers, Village leadership, community partners, and residents to continue providing professional, responsive, and community-centered public safety services.”
