Members today have already responded to two 1st alarm fires to start the holiday weekend. French Village Fire was dispatched on a box alarm assignment to assist Fairview Caseyville Township Fire Protection District with a working structure fire around 1 pm today. Assistant Chief 2801 and Engine 2811 responded and operated on scene for approximately an hour and a half. While members were picking up from that fire, they were then dispatched to a reported possible structure fire in the 7900 block of Bunkum Road. Assistant Chief 2801, Engine 2811, Engine 2821, and Brush 2818 responded and arrived on scene to find two vehicles fully involved near a building in a fenced-in lot. Caseyville Volunteer Fire Department was requested due to the address being in their district. A first alarm assignment was requested, bringing Fairview Fire and State Park Volunteer Fire Department to the scene and moving up Signal Hill Fire to French Village House 1. Members on scene were able to hold the fire to the vehicles and saved the building. No injuries were reported in either fire today. The teamwork today shows the importance of mutual aid amongst your local fire departments. Also, a huge thank you to Caseyville Police Department for their assistance on the Bunkum Road fire.
