🌱 **Please Keep Grass Clippings Out of the Street** 🏍️🚲

With mowing season in full swing, the Fairview Park Police Department would like to remind residents and landscaping crews to please keep grass clippings out of the roadway.

Grass clippings, especially when wet, can create a slick and hazardous surface for motorcycles, bicycles, and e-bikes. Clippings left in the roadway can also wash into catch basins and storm sewers, contributing to drainage problems.

Please take a few extra moments after mowing to blow grass clippings back onto the lawn rather than into the street.

It’s a simple step that helps keep our roadways safer and our storm sewer system clear.

Yvonne Regler is missing but not forgotten! In the last year, investigators from the Fairview Park Police Department, U.S. Marshals and other Law Enforcement Partners in Northeast Ohio have followed up on several new leads that have come in. Yvonne would be 66 years old today. We want to find her and believe someone has information that will help us locate her. No tip is too small or insignificant.

Forty-nine years ago on Monday, August 8, 1977, 17-year-old Yvonne Regler disappeared from the Sunoco Gas Station at 18990 Lorain Road in Fairview Park, Ohio where she was working. On that day a family lost a daughter and a sister while others lost a friend.
A time line of that day is as follows:

• At 7:00 a.m. Yvonne reported for work at a Sunoco station in North Olmsted for her shift that ended at 3:00 p.m. At approximately 8:00 a.m. Yvonne was transferred to the Fairview Park Sunoco station. She was dropped off by coworkers and had no means of transportation. At the time the gas station was full service with only one pump working Throughout the day she had phone conversations with family and friends. At 12:00 p.m. a coworker brought Yvonne lunch. At approximately 12:30 p.m. two teenage girls from the area saw Yvonne in the gas station.

• Between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Yvonne was on the phone with a friend and the service bell activated indicating a car had pulled up to the pump. Yvonne commented that a car drove through the lot and left. The service bell chimed again and Yvonne told her friend that the car was back and ended the conversation. Yvonne told the friend she would call her after 3:00 p.m. when she is off work. At approximately 1:25 p.m. A customer purchased gas with a credit card, Yvonne initialed receipt.

• Between 1:30 p.m. and 2:05 p.m. two customers and a coffee machine repair person arrived at the gas station and found it empty except for Yvonne’s personal property, a purse, ci******es, a book and partially eaten lunch. All three left without contacting authorities.

• Approximately 2:45 p.m. Yvonne’s relief arrived and found the station empty. He called the North Olmsted gas station. A manager who brought Yvonne lunch responded. He found Yvonne’s personal property and $300.00 in cash left in the cash register. After searching for Yvonne without success, the police were called.

🚔 I-480 SAFETY CORRIDOR ENFORCEMENT 🚔

The Fairview Park Police Department is joining the Ohio State Highway Patrol and other local law enforcement agencies in increased traffic-enforcement efforts along the newly designated I-480 Safety Corridor.

The 14-mile corridor extends from the Lorain County line to State Route 176. During the past two years, approximately 800 crashes have occurred along this stretch of I-480, with speeding and failure to wear seat belts identified as leading factors.

Drivers should expect an increased law enforcement presence focused on dangerous driving behaviors, including speeding and seat belt violations.

This initiative is not simply about issuing citations—it is about preventing serious crashes, injuries and fatalities.

Please help us keep I-480 safe:

✅ Slow down and obey posted speed limits
✅ Buckle up—every trip, every seat
✅ Put down your phone
✅ Leave adequate following distance
✅ Move over for stopped emergency and service vehicles

Mastick Road between Valley Parkway and Eaton Road will be closed from 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM tomorrow, July 31st, for tree trimming by the electrical company.

Expect road closures to begin around 8:15 AM this Saturday for the Summerfest 5k. The roads will be reopened upon completion of the event.
