At this week's City Council meeting, Fairview Park proudly honored Pete Evanko for his extraordinary service to our community.

In 1979, Pete was appointed to the Fairview Park Civil Service Commission, beginning a remarkable tenure that has spanned nearly 46 years. Through five mayors, numerous Police and Fire Chiefs, and decades of change, Pete has played a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the City's civil service system, helping oversee personnel matters, promotional and entry - level examinations, and the continued development of Civil Service Rules.

His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public service have helped shape the strong foundation of Fairview Park's workforce and government operations.

Thank you, Pete, for nearly five decades of unwavering service to the City of Fairview Park. Your contributions have made a lasting impact on our community.

A message from the Fairview Park Police Department:

At approximately 4:00 PM today, a Fairview Park Police Officer conducted a traffic stop involving a suspect with 14 serious felony warrants. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Fairview Park Police Department and our law enforcement partners from North Olmsted, Rocky River, Lakewood, and the Metroparks, the suspect was successfully apprehended and is now in custody.

We appreciate the professionalism, teamwork, and swift response of all agencies involved.

Last night, residents, community leaders, and partners came together for the 2026 State of the Community.

The accomplishments we celebrated are not the result of a single program, initiative, or individual - they are the result of people working together on behalf of our community.

A special thank you to Zoey Mahalic for leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and inspiring everyone with her commitment to spreading kindness throughout our community. We also want to thank the Fairview Fiddles for sharing their talents and helping make the evening so special.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to all who continue to make Fairview Park a great place to live, work, and play. We are excited about the progress we've made together and optimistic about the future ahead.

The Fairview Park Fire Department would like to take a moment to celebrate someone who has been the heart of their department’s operations since her first day on the job-Michelle Dusek!

Since June 2, 1986, when she first joined the team straight out of high school, Michelle has been a constant source of support, dedication, and friendship for everyone in the department.

Over the years, she has served as Administrative Assistant under four different Fire Chiefs, and has been Tony Raffin’s go to person for the past 12 years since his promotion to the position of Chief in 2014.

She is the critical link in the department’s day-to-day operations- the one who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes so our crews can focus on the mission! Her dedication and commitment to the department are second to none!

Thank you Michelle, for everything you do-and have done- for nearly four decades! The department is better because of you!
