We are officially 30 days away from Election Day. On April 4, 2023 - it is important that if you are a registered voter, you take the time to go to your polling place and VOTE!

Friends, family and residents of the Spoon River Valley CUSD #4, I would appreciate your support in electing me to serve on the Board of Education for our school district.

I have mentioned this many times and will continue to do so. Seventeen years ago, David Gilliland was the Superintendent of our district. In his monthly newsletters, he would always say, "Thanks to all who are helping make Spoon River Valley 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘪𝘴." To this day, I still share that same belief. We are so very lucky to have a small district in West-Central Illinois like we do. Our administration, staff and faculty are a great team. As a former student, I personally can speak to the quality education that I received, and our current students deserve that same thing. These children are the future of our country.

Our current members of the Board of Education are some of the greatest folks to hold these positions. Everyone knows that the last few years have been tough - but we continue to push forward and overcome any obstacles that may be in our way.

Let's continue to prove that SRV is one of the best small schools in the state - and that also begins with the leadership. On April 4, I hope that I can count on you to support me for the SRV Board of Education.

Spent the evening at Spoon River Valley CUSD #4 working the scorers table for Grade School basketball. Prior to the game, I looked out the south doors in the commons and noticed the sky was an eerie color. I walked out, and looked to the east to see a rainbow formed above both buildings.

Legend says that at the end of a rainbow, that is where you find a pot of gold.

That pot of gold in this picture is our school district. We have some of the best teachers instructing our students. We have some of the greatest students that you could ask for — and we have the greatest SRV family altogether. From the administration, faculty and staff all the way down to the youngest students in the district, as well our the members of our community.

The support to our district is like no other. I hope that your support in the upcoming election on April 4 is the same. Please take a moment out of your day to visit your Polling Place on Apr. 4 and vote to re-elect me - to the Spoon River Valley Board of Education.

Spoon River Valley CUSD #4 will be holding a Blood Drive on February 22.

We will be hosting a blood drive on February 22nd from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. Blood supplies for critical patients are low right now so any donation is appreciated.

This photo popped up in the memories on my personal page today. Back when I was a student at Spoon River College, I served on the College's Board of Trustees. Holding this position opened my eyes to being more involved in the community. From the time as the Student Representative at SRC, to serving on the Spoon River College Foundation Board of Directors along with Spoon River Valley CUSD #4's Board of Education - there's just something about being involved and giving back to those that gave to me - that I thoroughly enjoy.

In just two short months, on April 4. Election Day will be here again. If you are a resident of the Spoon River Valley CUSD No. 4 School District, make sure that you get out and vote. Voter turnout, even in small elections is important. I was unable to obtain results from Knox County in the 2021 general election, but in Fulton County (as of April 2021) when results were tabulated, there were 1283 registered voters in the townships that fall within the SRV School District. Only 495 votes were cast for the BoE positions on that ballot. That's 38.5 percent.

Get out to the polls on Election Day and exercise your right to vote!
