Today, Major County EMS had the privilege of visiting Mrs. Button’s CNA class at NWTC in Fairview.

David Averill and Kourtney Keeton provided an informative presentation that included an overview of the ambulance and a closer look at their roles within our organization. Opportunities like this allow us to engage with students, promote EMS, and support the development of future healthcare professionals.

We appreciate the invitation and look forward to continued partnerships within our communities.

🚨New Law🚨

It’s now illegal to knowingly come within 25 feet of a law enforcement officer, correctional officer, probation or parole officer, or EMS after being told not to if your intent is to interfere, threaten, or harass them while they’re performing their duties.

Oklahoma Law 21:540.D

2. "Harass" means to willfully engage in a course of conduct directed at a first responder which intentionally distracts the first responder from performing his or her official duties and serves no legitimate purpose.

B. It shall be unlawful for a person, after receiving a verbal warning not to approach from a person he or she knows or reasonably should know is a first responder, who is engaged in the lawful performance of a legal duty, to knowingly and willfully violate such warning and approach or remain within twenty-five (25) feet of the first responder with the intent to:

Side note: Some of you may have noticed that firemen are not included in this law. That is because there is already a law for them and it’s a felony to interfere with them. 21:1217 (Will soon be classified as a Class B4 Felony)

Celebrating our Star of Life – Christopher Winn

Once again, Major County EMS had the privilege of attending the Oklahoma Ambulance Association Star of Life Ceremony. This year, it was held at the Riverwind Casino in Norman, OK.

This year, our team proudly nominated our peer, colleague, and friend, Christopher Winn, for this distinguished honor. Chris has been an invaluable member of Major County EMS for more than 10 years, serving not only as a dedicated Paramedic but also as our Training Officer.

Chris goes above and beyond every single day — for our agency, our county, and the people we serve. His determination to better our organization never goes unnoticed, and this award is a reflection of the appreciation we all share for his service and dedication.

This is not Chris’s first time being recognized at this level. In 2015, he was honored as a Star of Life recipient with Life EMS in Enid and was also awarded the National Star of Life. That recognition, paired with this year’s award, is proof of what we already know: Chris is the kind of EMS professional you’re lucky to know and even luckier to work with.

From all of us at Major County EMS — thank you, Chris, for your tireless commitment, your servant’s heart, and for helping us live up to our promise of providing “Experience you can trust.”

Please join us in congratulating Chris on this well-deserved honor!
