A Lake Charles father is asking for help finding his two young children who are believed to be with the non-custodial mother.
Cohen, 6, and Colton Desormeaux, 5, are listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website. Their mother is facing charges.
Chase Desormeaux said he last saw his children in Lake Charles on June 12. A judge ordered their mother, Sharlene Desormeaux, 41, to return them to their father, but she refused.
Chase Desormeaux reported Sharlene to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 30, CPSO spokesperson Kayla Vincent said. Detectives tried to contact her multiple times without success, and they issued a warrant for her arrest on Nov. 3.
Sharlene Desormeaux faces a court order with a $25,000 bond.
Chase Desormeaux said he was granted sole custody of the children on Nov. 15. The judge signed the orders on Nov. 18, at which time Desormeaux reported them missing to CPSO.
Sharlene Desormeaux is believed to have left the Calcasieu area. Possibly in the Houston, Dallas or Austin areas.
Vincent said CPSO detectives are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information about the children’s whereabouts is asked to call CPSO at 337-491-3795.
The family is offering a reward for any information that helps detectivesfind and recover the children, Chase Desormeaux’s attorney, Samuel Ducote said.
