ATTENTION ... DEADLINE APPROACHING:
The deadline for assessing your business personal property is March 15, 2024. Failure to report by this date will result in statutorily required penalties. The Assessor cannot wave these penalties. After March 15th a 10% penalty will be added. After April 15th, a 20% penalty will be added. If you cannot get to the office or have your assessment post marked by these dates, then give us a call. We will work with you. You may also email your rendition or list of assets to [email protected] or [email protected].
The March 15th deadline also applies to the following exemptions.
• Applications for NEW Homestead Exemptions — (if you have moved to a new home in 2023 and have not yet filed for your new homestead exemption, you must do so by March 15th to receive this exemption for 2024)
• Applications for Additional Homestead Exemptions for 2024 — (total gross household income for 2023 must be $30,000 or less). There are no age restrictions for this exemption and proof of income is required. You must apply each year to receive this benefit.
• Senior Valuation Freeze — (must be 65 years or older as of January 1, 2024, and have a total gross household income for 2023 of $79,400 or less for Major County residents). Documentation of proof of income is required, and you must file each year until you reach age 65.
