A Message from Mayor John Hubbard

The defacing of a sign at the site of the temple being built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is unacceptable, and I condemn it without qualification. We have asked the Fairview Police Department to investigate.

While the Town and the Church have disagreed over the size of the temple’s steeple, Fairview’s citizens have consistently shown respect for our neighbors and their religious beliefs. This disagreement is about the height and scale of a structure. It is not about anyone’s faith.

There is no excuse for vandalism or hateful activity. I ask every Fairview resident to condemn this action and voice support for our neighbors in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Neighbors can disagree, but Fairview is not a community that supports this kind of conduct. We solve problems through respect, good-faith dialogue and a shared commitment to being good neighbors.

Pressure tactics and instilling fear are often the most successful tools of scammers. The Fairview Police Department reminds residents of the following safety tips:

• Verify the Source: Government agencies (ATF, IRS, Police) will never call to demand payment via cashier’s check, wire transfer, or gift cards to "clear a warrant."

• Beware of "Spoofing": Scammers use technology to make their calls appear as if they are coming from local police or official government offices. If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and call the agency back using a verified number from an official website.

• Ignore Suspicious Links/Texts: Never call a phone number provided in an unsolicited text message regarding an "order" or "account issue." Log in to the official company website (e.g., Amazon . com) directly to check your order status.

• Act Quickly: If you believe you have been scammed, contact your local police department and your bank immediately. Early intervention is the only way to recover lost funds.

• If someone calls you and are asking you to withdraw money, and they tell you they’ll stay on the line with you, it is a scam!

The following is a summary of action taken by the Fairview Town Council at the September 1, 2026, regular meeting:

COLLIN COUNTY RIDES PROGRAM EXTENSION
The Council approved extending the Collin County Rides Program, which is operated by agreement with the Denton County Transit Authority, through September 30, 2029. The program offers low-cost transportation to Fairview residents who are at least 65 years old or who have a qualifying disability.

GRAYSON COLLIN ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE POWER LINES
The Council approved the installation of overhead power lines for a portion of lines being installed by the Grayson Collin Electric Cooperative. The overhead lines and eight poles will be installed along State Highway 5 between Stacy Road and the north side of Southwind Drive.

IMPACT FEES
The Town Council approved making no changes to its current land use assumptions, capital improvements plan and associated impact fees.

DRAINAGE EASEMENTS
The Council approved a resolution that a public necessity exists for acquiring a permanent drainage easement and a temporary construction easement along Country Club Road (FM 1378) near Stoddard Road.

RECOUPING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH FIRE RESPONSE AND EMS ACTIVITY
The Council approved a program to bill insurance carriers for fees associated with motor vehicle crashes, vehicle fires, hazardous materials incidents, industrial or commercial accidents, structure fires and equipment fires. Fairview residents will not be charged for any response from the Fairview Fire Department or EMS.

EAST FAIRVIEW CONGESTION RELIEF TASK FORCE
The Council approved formation of a task force to address traffic congestion near and at the Country Club Road and Stacy Road intersection and seek funding for roadway improvements from partner agencies.

Below is a statement from the Fairview Mayor.

Fairview Town Council Approves FY2027 Property Tax Rate

The Fairview Town Council has approved a property tax rate of $0.329001 per $100 of taxable value for FY2027. The Council understands that any increase in property taxes affects our residents and did not make this decision lightly.

The adopted rate will generate approximately $8.55 million in property tax revenue, about $550,000 more than the No-New-Revenue Rate. For a median-value home in Fairview ($965,291), the increase is approximately $17 per month.

The additional revenue is needed to maintain the level of service Fairview residents expect, particularly Police and Fire protection, while addressing rising costs throughout the Town. Of the additional $550,000:

• $250,000 will be reserved to help address future increases in health insurance costs for Police and Fire employees. This is in addition to $1 million already reserved for this purpose.

• $300,000 will support employee retention, including increased health insurance costs, merit increases, and market-rate salary adjustments for Police, Fire, Public Works, and other Town employees.

The Council also took steps to reduce costs to residents in other areas. The Town reduced Water Fund revenue by approximately $664,000, allowing the proposed FY2027 water and sewer rate increases to be lowered.

The Council considered the No-New-Revenue Rate. However, adopting that rate would not have provided sufficient funding to maintain current Police and Fire service levels and meet increasing personnel and operating costs.

Fairview remains committed to responsible financial management while protecting the services that contribute to our community’s safety and quality of life.

Effective August 26, 2026, the Town of Fairview has implemented a burn ban. The Collin County Fire Marshal has also issued the same burn ban for all unincorporated areas of Collin County. This burn ban will remain in place for 60 days for all properties within the Town of Fairview. https://texasburnbans.net/collin

During this burn ban, only the private home-type barbecue grills will be permitted to be used. This ban includes burning of brush and natural vegetation on any land parcel and in any outdoor fire pit or container, regardless of size. A propane grill/fire pit is still allowed because it does not release embers that could spread and cause fires.

Collin County Health Care Services has notified the Town of Fairview that an individual who spent time in Collin County on August 14, 2026 and August 15, 2026 has tested positive for measles.

This individual visited three public venues while infectious.

Measles is a highly contagious disease that can be transmitted from person-to-person through the air or contaminated surfaces. Measles can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person has left the area. Measles can lead to serious health complications.

If you were at any of these locations during the specified dates and are not vaccinated against measles or are unsure of your immunity, you may be at risk of contracting measles.

The following recommendations were provided by Collin County Health Care Services regarding what you should do:

1. If you were at one of the venues on the dates and times listed above and are unvaccinated and pregnant; or immunocompromised (receiving treatment that would result in immune system suppression, or have an immune system disease), it is recommended that you contact your health-care provider immediately to discuss the possible exposure.

2. Anyone who was at the venues on the dates listed above should monitor themselves for measles symptoms through September 5, 2026. Those symptoms include:

Fever
Dry cough
Runny nose
Sore throat
Inflamed eyes (conjunctivitis)
Koplik’s spots: Small white spots with bluish-white centers found inside the mouth
A skin rash made up of large, flat blotches

3. If you develop symptoms of measles:

Stay home and away from others.
Contact your healthcare provider for guidance.
Call before visiting a clinic or hospital to prevent possible exposure to others.

Collin County Health Care Services emphasizes that the most effective way to prevent measles is through vaccination with the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Fairview Police Department Investigates Home Burglary

FAIRVIEW, Texas — On Friday, July 31, 2026, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Fairview Police Department responded to a residence in the 500 block of Michelle Way regarding a home burglary. The homeowner was identified as Cedarian “CeeDee” Lamb, a player for the Dallas Cowboys.

Officers arrived and met with individuals representing Mr. Lamb at the residence. The individuals directed officers to the apparent entry and exit point—a broken window on the side of the home.

Evidence obtained at the scene and surrounding area indicates a single suspect entered and exited through the window. Several high-end personal items belonging to Mr. Lamb were taken from the home.

The Fairview Police Department is actively pursuing all leads in this ongoing investigation, working alongside area law enforcement partners to identify and apprehend the suspect. This remains an active investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
