At approximately 7:34 AM yesterday, the Falconer Fire Department was dispatched to 337 West Main Street following reports of smoke in the building.

Upon the arrival of Car 402, heavy fire was observed coming from a first-floor apartment and established command. Command immediately performed a primary search, clearing the apartment adjacent to the fire unit. Fire crews arrived shortly after and made entry into the building to clear the remaining units. At the time of the incident, it is believed that 8 of the building's 12 apartments were vacant, and the fire-involved unit was occupied, however the tenant and her daughter were not home at the time of the fire and they are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The fire was quickly brought under control within approximately 20 minutes. Significant fire damage was successfully limited to the original apartment of origin. We are grateful to report that no injuries were sustained by civilians or emergency personnel.

The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team responded to the scene to determine the origin and cause. While the official investigation is ongoing, initial findings suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical issue in the bedroom.

This incident was a coordinated effort involving several agencies;
Kiantone Fire Department
Kennedy Fire Department
Gerry Fire Department
Chautauqua County EMS
Chautauqua County Battalion Coordinators
Chautauqua County Fire Police Team
Ellicott Police Department

🚨 Attention Falconer, Ellicott, and Jamestown Residents! 🚨
It’s that time of year again—bridge washing season has officially arrived!
As the Falconer Fire Department heads out to maintain our local infrastructure in the Village of Falconer, Town of Ellicott, and City of Jamestown, we need your help to keep everyone safe.
🚧 What to Expect:
Firefighters on the Road: You’ll see our crews working on and around bridges to clear away winter salt and debris.
Work Zones: Please look out for fire apparatus, cones, and high-visibility gear.
Water Spray: Expect some wet pavement and potential spray near work areas.
🚒 How You Can Help:
Slow Down: Please reduce your speed when approaching a bridge where crews are working.
Move Over: Give our firefighters plenty of space to work safely.
Stay Alert: Put down the phone and keep your eyes on the road. Distracted driving is a major risk for our members.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us keep our community’s bridges in top shape!
Stay safe,
The Falconer Fire Department 🚒
