Falfurrias Fire Department Serving the City of Falfurrias and Brooks County since 1929 The Falfurrias Fire Department is, and always has been a non-profit organization.

During the 1920’s the emerging community of Falfurrias suffered a devastating fire, the Falfurrias Mercantile building burned resulting in over $81,000 in damages. As a result the community recognized the need for a fire department …and in 1929 the Falfurrias Volunteer Fire Department was formed. It relies on the income from its annual fundraiser and monetary donations from the community that is p

roudly serves, to assist with operating cost; maintenance cost; and the cost of personal protective equipment used to keep firefighters safe. The Falfurrias Fire Department has grown from 2 firefighting apparatus’s and a handful of firefighters, to 18 apparatus’s and 26 firefighters, to help meet the needs of the growing population. Needs such as structural fires, vehicle fires, wild land fires, vehicle extraction, and rescues.

AUSTIN, TX- On June 3, 2026, the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) received confirmation of a detection of New World screwworm (NWS) in Zavala County, Texas. A sample collected from a three-week-old calf with an umbilical lesion was identified and confirmed as NWS by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL) in Ames, Iowa. There are currently no further confirmed detections in animals in Texas.

🎉🚨 EXCITING NEWS, FALFURRIAS! 🚨🎉

Golf Cart and ATV Permits are now officially available through the City of Falfurrias Police Department!

Residents can now apply for a permit to legally operate approved golf carts and ATVs within the city limits. This program promotes safety, accountability, and responsible operation on our roadways.

To learn more about the ordinance and permit requirements, please stop by our office to obtain a copy of the ordinance and permit agreement.

Before a permit can be issued, applicants must provide:

✅ Valid Driver's License
✅ Proof of Insurance
✅ Valid License Plate

📋 An inspection appointment is required prior to permit approval.

📍 Visit us at 203 East Allen Street
📞 Call (361) 325-5041 to schedule your appointment and obtain information regarding fees and requirements.

⚠️ Permits are valid for one year.
⚠️ Golf carts and ATVs may NOT be operated within the city limits without a valid permit. Vehicles found operating in violation of the ordinance may be subject to citation and towing.

We are excited to offer this new service and look forward to helping residents register their vehicles and operate safely within our community.

The City of Falfurrias Police Department encourages all residents to help keep our neighborhoods clean and well-maintained.

✅ Mow grass and weeds regularly.
✅ Remove debris and clutter.
✅ Eliminate standing water that attracts mosquitoes.
✅ Help a neighbor who may need assistance with property maintenance.

If you notice an overgrown or abandoned property, please report it by calling (361) 325-5041 or by visiting the Falfurrias Police Department at 203 E. Allen Street.

We understand the community's concerns and are actively working through the proper process to address reported violations. Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and support.
