LIVE-IN MEMBER PROGRAM

Falkville Fire & Rescue is gauging interest in a possible unpaid Live-In Member Program.

This would be a unique opportunity to serve the community while gaining real-world experience in an active fire and EMS department.

Preferred Qualifications:
🔥 Alabama Certified Volunteer Firefighter
🚑 EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic preferred

Minimum Qualifications:
🚑 EMR certification
✅ Valid driver’s license
✅ 18 years of age or older
✅ Willingness to complete required fire training
✅ Commitment to respond, train, and serve the community

Less qualified applicants may be considered based on the applicant pool. Training may be provided.

Program Benefits:
🏠 On-site housing provided at no cost
📚 Ongoing training and skill development
🎓 Public safety-related education/training paid for by the department as approved
🚒 Hands-on experience in fire and emergency medical response
🤝 Opportunity to be part of an active department serving the community

This program would be built for the right person — someone dependable, motivated, and willing to be part of the daily work that keeps the department moving. Live-in members would be expected to answer calls, train, help maintain readiness, and represent Falkville Fire & Rescue with pride.

Falkville Fire & Rescue responded to an 18-wheeler accident on I-65 Northbound near the 318-mile marker.

Crews arrived on scene to find an overturned tractor-trailer that was hauling multiple vehicles. Personnel began assessing the patient, checking for hazards, and working to stabilize the scene.

While operating around the overturned trailer and confirming no injuries, crews heard the sound of a distressed animal coming from underneath the wreckage. After investigating, firefighters located a young deer fawn trapped beneath trees and debris underneath the overturned trailer.

Crews worked their way into the area and were able to safely remove the debris and free the fawn. Once removed, the fawn was checked for any obvious injuries and appeared to be unharmed. It was then released into the nearby wooded area.
