Big News for Fall Creek!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our Library Board President, John Kuehn, has been named the 2026 Wisconsin Library Trustee of the Year by the Wisconsin Library Association!

This well-deserved recognition celebrates John's exceptional leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the Fall Creek Public Library and our community.

Over the past six years, John has played an instrumental role in shaping the future of our library. As co-chair of the Beyond Words Campaign, he has helped lead the effort to raise more than $7 million toward our new library and village center. John and his wife, Michelle, have also generously donated the land for our new library!

But John's impact goes far beyond fundraising. He leads with humility, supports our staff, advocates for public libraries, and isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and get to work. His thoughtful leadership and genuine care for Fall Creek have made a lasting difference in our library and our community.

We are so grateful for John's countless hours of service and his vision for what our library can be for generations to come.

While we wait for our new flooring to be installed so we can move our shelving back into place and get more books back on the shelves, we’re happy to share that a few more services are up and running!

Here’s what you can currently enjoy at the library:

💻 Computers & Printing: We have three public computers and a printer available for use.

📰 Periodicals: Our magazines and periodicals are available, with a table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy them.

📚 Adult Books: Our adult new fiction and nonfiction books are ready for you to browse and check out!

🧸 Kids’ Area: We’ve moved our children’s area into our largest meeting room! Bring the kiddos in to play, get those wiggles out, and pick out a few books to take home while you’re here. We’d love to see you!

As we continue to get busier and busier, we know the limited space can be a challenge, and we appreciate your understanding as we work through this process. We’re hopeful that by the end of next week, the flooring will be installed and things will start to feel a little more “normal” around here!

We’re sorry for this bump in the road and are so grateful for your patience, kindness, and continued support. ❤️ We’ll keep you updated as we make progress!

Thank you for sticking with us during this temporary shuffle! We can’t wait to have our library back in order and all those books back on the shelves!

What a FUN morning for Story Time!

We had 52 smiling faces ready to enjoy Where’s the Leaf Thief? by Alice Hemming! 🍃 It was a cozy morning filled with playing, chatting, and connecting with friends.

As many of you know, our Story Time is currently a shortened and simplified version while reconstruction is underway and we’re unable to use our normal space. For now, we’re keeping things simple with a book, a snack, and plenty of time to connect with other families.

We’re hopeful that in the coming weeks, we’ll be able to transition back to our regular Story Time routine filled with books, music, activities, and crafts! 🎶🎨📚

In the meantime, we are practically bursting at the seams! We might need to move Story Time into the Community Room next week to give everyone a little more room.

What a great “problem” to have! Thank you to all the wonderful families who continue to show up, connect, and make our library such a special place. We can’t wait to see you next week! 🍁

Our friends at the Fall Creek Police Department are hosting a Blood Drive TODAY in the Community Room!

Stop in, donate if you’re able, and enjoy the beautiful view of the pond while helping make a difference in someone’s life. Every donation can help save lives, and we’re so glad to see our community coming together for such a great cause!

Check out what's happening at the library this week!

Tuesday, 10/20 | Playgroup | 9:30–10:45 AM
The Family Resource Center will be setting up in our Community Room with lots of fun activity stations for kids to explore! Little ones can enjoy playtime, a snack, and a story while families connect with others in the community.

Wednesday, 10/21 | Story Time | 10:00 AM
Join us for a cozy morning of stories, snacks, and connection! It’s a wonderful opportunity for little ones to enjoy a story and for families to get to know others in the community.

Thursday, 10/22 | History Book Club | 1:30–3:00 PM
Love reading about history and discussing what you’ve learned? The History Book Club will be meeting at the Historical Society Museum in Fall Creek. New faces are always welcome, so feel free to join the conversation!

Storytime Tomorrow & Library Update!

Join us for Storytime tomorrow in our temporary children’s area inside the library! Storytime will be a little simpler than usual for now — a book and a snack — but it’s still a wonderful opportunity to stop in, enjoy a story, and connect with other local families. We’d love to see you there!

A little more library access is coming! 🎉

We’re excited to begin opening up the front portion of the library for families and patrons to use while reconstruction continues. Here’s what you can look forward to:

- A temporary children’s area in Meeting Room A, with children’s books available to browse and check out.

- Three public computers available for use.

- Printing services available.

- New adult fiction and nonfiction books on display and ready to check out!

We know this isn’t the library experience we had hoped for, but with reconstruction expected to take another month or so, we want to do everything we can to keep serving our community in the meantime.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through this unexpected setback. We miss having everyone in our full space, and we’re doing our best to make the most of this in-between season. ❤️

PLEASE READ: Safe Ways to Get to the New Fall Creek Public Library & Village Center

As more families begin visiting the new Fall Creek Public Library and Village Center, we want to take a moment to call attention to the safest ways to walk or bike to the new facility.

If you are a parent of a child who will be walking or biking to the library, please take a few minutes to read and talk through this with your child. ❤️

Our village has two pedestrian flashing LED crosswalks on Highway 12. These are highlighted on the map, and pictured. These are the preferred and safest places to cross Highway 12:

📍 Near Fall Mart and Chicken Chasers
📍 Near Memorial Park

There are also crosswalks at Liberty Street, State Street, and White Street.

Please note: Crossing Highway 12 at Victory Street is not advised.
Please do not cross Highway 12 anywhere there is not a designated crosswalk. Crossing outside of a crosswalk is both illegal and unsafe.

A few important reminders for everyone:

• Look both ways before crossing.
• Make sure traffic in both directions has actually stopped before entering the crosswalk.
• Do not assume drivers see you or will stop. Make eye contact with drivers when possible and wait until you are certain it is safe to cross.
• If you're biking, slow down and be especially cautious when approaching a crosswalk.

We want our children, families, and everyone in our community to be able to enjoy all of the wonderful spaces our village has to offer — safely.

Taking a few extra moments to use the designated crosswalks, watch for traffic, and make sure vehicles have stopped can make a big difference.

It’s a sunny Tuesday, so we’re focusing on the positive! ☀️

This unexpected setback has certainly been tough, but there are still SO many good things happening at the library:

1. The books are packed!
All of the books that needed to be packed up before demolition are officially packed. That was no small task, but it’s DONE—and we can move forward!

2. New books arrived!
It’s always a good day for a librarian when new materials show up. There’s just something about opening boxes of brand-new books! ❤️

3. Our contractors have been amazing.
Every contractor we’ve worked with has gone above and beyond for us. We truly feel well cared for throughout this process, and we’re incredibly grateful.

4. We’re making the most of this downtime.
While we wait to fully reopen, we’re using this time to work on even MORE amazing features for the library. Hint, hint… 👀 LEGO wall, local art nook, a fully stocked makerspace, and so much more! We can’t wait for you to see what’s coming.

5. We ended September on a high note!
Despite everything that happened, we still had 1,589 items checked out and 35 new library cards in September! That is something worth celebrating. 🎉

There have definitely been some bumps in the road, but there is still SO much to look forward to. We’re keeping our eyes on the future and making the most of this unexpected downtime.
