On June 3rd, CAST Unit Detectives and members of the ESU Team were investigating information related to an assault rifle pistol (ARP) being in the possession of an unlicensed individual. During the course of their investigation, they determined that the rifle had been placed in the possession of Noah Correiro, 18. They developed probable cause to apply for a search warrant for Noah's residence inside Pleasant View Housing Development. The search warrant was granted and a search was executed on Noah’s residence.

During the search, the following items were seized:
• Hi-Point 9mm Assault Rifle Pistol
• 264 cannabis v**e cartridges
• $6,000 U.S. currency
• AR-15-style replica BB gun

The public shame of owning a Hi-Point is not enough. Noah was arrested for the following charges:
• Possession of a Firearm Without an FID Card
• Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
• Possession Class D Substance with Intent to Distribute

Once again, proactive policing is used as a tool to take another illegal weapon out of the hands of criminals before they can be used to cause harm. This investigation is on-going and will likely tie in more who are involved.

Fall River Police Department – Monthly Calls for Service Recap (May 2026)

These numbers reflect the calls for service our officers responded to over the past month. While this data doesn’t capture all calls, it highlights the most common types of incidents. For a more detailed review, the yearly crime statistics are released each spring.

At the request of many community members, we have also included a separate category for “shootings.” This includes all confirmed shooting incidents reported within city limits. Some of those shootings were investigated solely by the Mass State Police since they occurred on the highway.

On June 1st, Detectives assigned to our CAST Unit were proactively patrolling the Corky Row area. At approximately 10:00 AM, detectives observed a vehicle stop and engage in an interaction with pedestrians that was consistent with an illicit drug transaction. Further investigation confirmed those suspicions. Detectives subsequently followed the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop.

While conducting the stop and investigating the suspected transaction, detectives removed the two male occupants from the vehicle, identified as Dario Hamlin-Baxter (29) of Brockton and Malachi Auguste (22) of Mattapan. Detectives conducted a pat frisk of both individuals, as well as a protective sweep of the vehicle within the immediate reach of the occupants.

During the search of the vehicle, detectives located:
• 10.38 grams of Fentanyl
• A Mossberg .22 caliber AR-style pistol
• 23 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition
• 1 spent .22 caliber casing
• 1 redundant clown mask

On the person of Dario Hamlin-Baxter, detectives located:
• 7.8 grams of Fentanyl
• 15.78 grams of crack co***ne
• 2 pills of suspected ecstasy

As a result of this investigation, the following charges are being brought:
Malachi Auguste is charged with:
• Fentanyl, Trafficking in More Than 10 Grams (c.94C)
• Firearm, Carry Without License, Loaded, 2nd Offense
• Firearm, Carry Without License, 2nd Offense
• Firearm, Possess Large Capacity
• Firearm in Felony, Possess Large Capacity
• Feeding Device, Possess Large Capacity

Dario Hamlin-Baxter is charged with:
• Firearm, Carry Without License, 3rd Offense
• Firearm, Possess Large Capacity
• Drug, Possess to Distribute Class B (2 counts)
• Firearm in Felony, Possess Large Capacity
• Feeding Device, Possess Large Capacity
• Firearm, Carry Without License, Loaded, 3rd Offense
• Fentanyl, Trafficking in More Than 10 Grams (c.94C)

This was another strong proactive case that removed dangerous drugs from our streets, took an illegal firearm out of the hands of criminals, and brought those responsible before the justice system to, hopefully, be held accountable for their actions.

On Tuesday May 26th, CAST detectives received information that Januel Medina (19) was operating a vehicle in the area of Bay Street and was in possession of a firearm. Januel was part of an active investigation where it was already determined that he does not possess a license to carry a firearm.

At approximately 3pm detectives located Januel operating a vehicle on Bradford Avenue, attempting to back into a parking spot at Kennedy Park. When attempting to conduct a motor vehicle stop, Januel fled the scene at a high rate of speed, nearly causing multiple vehicle accidents.

After fleeing from police, Januel then decided to head to his residence on Sachem Street because our detectives certainly would not check there. His gamble did not pay off as not only were CAST detectives paying him a visit but they were joined by MCD Detectives, Patrol Officers and even a few officers working a detail in the area. Detectives quickly located Januel in the rear yard of his residence which led to a very short jaunt through some back yards and over fences. The chase quickly ended when Januel was greeted with arms wide open, under the sunlight. He was taken into custody without incident.

A search warrant for the residence and property was petitioned and granted. A search was conducted and a G***k 19 9mm handgun with a defaced serial number and a loaded 31-round extended magazine. Also located in the residence was a loaded 17-round magazine.

Januel Medina was arrested for the following charges:
• STOP FOR POLICE, FAIL
• NEGLIGENT OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE
• STOP/YIELD, FAIL TO
• FIREARM, CARRY WITHOUT LICENSE
• FIREARM, CARRY WITHOUT LICENSE LOADED c269 s.10(n)
• FIREARM, POSSESS LARGE CAPACITY
• FEEDING DEVICE, POSSESS LARGE CAPACITY
• AMMUNITION WITHOUT FID CARD, POSSESS
• FIREARM W/DEFACED NO., RECEIVE

We are asking the community to help provide information that will lead to the arrest of William Acosta Abreu (20yo).

On May 18th, CAST Detectives were made aware of a memorial site that had been vandalized earlier in the early morning. The memorial site on County Street, which candles and written memories, was made for Diamonte Odom, a young man who was lost to gun violence in May of 2023.

Detectives discovered a video posted to social media depicting a male, at 2:27am, purposely smashing candles and destroying the memorial site. We included the video, with the expletives edited out although it does not take a literary scholar to fill in the blanks. William Acosta Abreu was quickly identified through his easily recognizable tattoos in conjunction with the familiarity our detectives have of him.

William Acosta Abreu has multiple warrants for his arrest and is considered dangerous, especially to a defenseless memorial site in the wee hours of the night when no one is around. On the evening of May 23rd, officers attempted to stop a vehicle containing William. This vehicle sped off, nearly running over one of our officers.

We ask for your assistance with information helping us locate William and bring him before the court to explain his actions. If you have information about William Acosta Abreu’s whereabouts, please contact us. You can remain anonymous.

***Update Regarding May 22nd Incident on Lindsey Street***

This is an update to the incident reported on Friday, May 22nd, regarding a shooting on Lindsey Street.

As previously reported, at approximately 7:00 PM on May 22nd, officers responded to a call for a male reportedly in possession of a firearm and attempting to vandalize a motor vehicle. Detectives from the Major Case Division obtained a search warrant for Noble’s residence on Osborn Street in Fall River. At approximately 10:00 PM, members of the Emergency Services Unit, Major Case Division, and Patrol Bureau executed the warrant. We are seeing an incredible turnout for the Fall River Seafood Festival at the Fall River Carousel and Heritage State Park!

At this time, the parking lots at the Carousel and across the street are at capacity. Additional parking is available at the Narrows/Primo location, as well as the paid parking lot on Ferry Street. The City trolley will be running continuously to shuttle attendees between these locations.

We kindly ask that you utilize these alternate parking areas and avoid driving directly to the Carousel to help reduce traffic congestion in the area.

The event runs until 6:00 PM, so there is still plenty of time to come down and enjoy everything the festival has to offer!

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to seeing you there!
