Creative Arts Network is proud to present Your Vote Is Magic! With Lyn Dillies… building a NEW generation of future voters.
Creative Arts Network has a simple vision with this event – to enlighten and educate people about the power of their vote and participating citizenship.
The late Calvin Dillies, passed on his beliefs about voting and civic responsibility, to his daughter Lyn, an award winning Illusionist, and ever since, she has been on a mission, using her magic to inspire people about the importance of voting in their lives.
In 2008, in time for the presidential election, Lyn had a vision of a magnificent way to deliver a powerful, visual statement about voting. Out of thin air, she made the two live political mascots appear – a donkey and an elephant! She called her public service campaign Your Vote Is Magic!
Lyn continued her mission by writing a book about the year long journey of her Your Vote Is Magic! Illusion and chronicled what it took to pull off the amazing spectacle. But more importantly, it included an overview of voting history for the reader. Still, Lyn felt compelled to do more. In 2014, she used her skills as an illusionist and lecturer, and created an exciting live presentation of Your Vote Is Magic! Lyn’s unique program strategically integrates some of her spectacular illusions from her national touring show with informative lessons about voting. It is empowering, educational, as well as entertaining. It really is magical!

It’s that time of year again and the State Democratic Party is getting ready for the convention.
In order to attend the convention you must be a registered Democrat and attend your ward caucus.
If you are not interested in attending the convention but would like to attend the Caucus just to learn about the process, you can and we encourage it!
Anyone interested in attending this year’s convention must attend the Caucus and get voted in.
Ward 7 is planning the 2023 caucus. If you live in Ward 7 (see the following streets) and would like to attend the caucus, you can email Sandy Dennis, Ward 7 Chair at [email protected] to attend.

Message from Auditor Suzanne M. Bump

Dear Friend,

I am as dedicated to my office’s mission of transparency and accountability as I was in 2011, and I am enormously proud of the continuing financial and human impact we make through our work in the Auditor’s office. And yet, I will not seek re-election next year.

With our literally award-winning team, it is hard to think about walking away after this, my third term, and harder still to make this statement. We continue to meet the highest standards of government auditing, help maintain integrity in public benefits programming, ease financial burdens for cities and towns, and engage in exciting partnerships with stakeholders and lawmakers, and we have brought forward some of the best data analytics tools in government to do this. However, I want to create the opportunity for another leader who shares my commitment to making government work better and building the public trust to pursue this mission. The public deserves to choose from a wide field, and this announcement will help make that possible.

I have moved us from falling short of government standards to being nationally recognized for our high standards. I have been committed to ensuring that everyone in the Auditor’s office models the behavior we want from our auditees – adherence to our public service mission, effective use of our resources, and transparency in our operations. It has enhanced our ability and impact.

And, I could not have done it without you. With an encouraging word, a campaign donation, or active participation in my campaigns, you have enabled me to carry out this work on behalf of all of our Commonwealth’s residents. I hope you are as proud of our contributions to public spending and public policy as I am. You have the right to be.

I do not intend to be a candidate for higher office, but I do look forward to future opportunities to advocate for and to further efforts to achieve greater transparency and accountability in government. I am grateful to the voters of the Commonwealth for putting their faith in me and to my colleagues in government for their collaboration. This has been a thrill and an honor I never envisioned when I first walked into the State House as a legislative intern in 1978.
