While a new baby can bring immense joy to a family, families also experience stress, fatigue, and difficulty adjusting to a new routine and responsibilities. Many new mothers may have the baby blues after childbirth, which is a fairly normal occurrence that typically lasts less than two weeks. Postpartum depression is a form of depression that occurs after the birth of a child. While it’s often experienced by mothers, it can also be experienced by fathers.
Symptoms of Baby Blues include:
🌸Mood swings and crying spells
🌸Sadness and anxiety
🌸Feeling overwhelmed
🌸Reduced concentration
These symptoms do not interfere with functioning or infant care and are intermixed with feelings of happiness. These feelings are temporary and usually fade on their own within the first few weeks after birth.
If feelings of sadness, anxiety, and worry do not resolve within a few weeks, a parent may be experiencing postpartum depression or other perinatal mood disorders that may require treatment.
What are help/treatment options?
🌸Counseling - therapy can be an effective way to address the way parents are feeling, thinking, and acting. Individuals struggling with postpartum depression can benefit from learning new ways to cope with stress, and how to manage their feelings.
🌸Medication - For more information about medication use contact your healthcare provider.
🌸Support groups - Support groups can be helpful in a variety of ways like helping to make connections with other moms struggling with postpartum depression, learning helpful and practical coping skills from other moms, and reduces a sense of isolation.
🌸Supplemental supports - In addition to therapy and/or medication, many benefit from supplemental support like yoga, exercise & meditation.
It is always important to mention all treatments, whether prescribed or not, with your healthcare providers.

Most colds are safe and can be treated at home to give the little noses some relief! But if the symptoms seem severe, rush to a pediatrician!
🌸 Saline drops and nasal aspirator: Suck the mucus out of the baby's nose to help him breathe easily. Your baby will not allow you to do this and will resist hard, but keep calm and use it! Trust me, your baby will feel so good after that!
🌸 Humidifier: It'll help keep the air moist and helps with baby's cold and cough.
🌸 Breastfeed often: Keeping them hydrated during cold is most important. Also the breastmilk has antibodies which help baby to fight against the germs!
🌸 Give steam: Run a hot shower and sit with your baby in the bathroom steam for few minutes. It'll help with their congestion and stuffy nose.
🌸 Elevate their head while sleeping: It'll help them breathe properly.
🌸 Encourage rest: Let your baby rest often and give him extra cuddles to comfort him! Proper sleep is essential for a healthy immune system!
Finally, be patient and give it some time. Cold will be gone mostly within

If my children don’t want to be touched, DO NOT touch them.
Don’t bribe them with candy for a kiss or hug.
Don’t pick them up and force them to hug or kiss you.
Don't pressure them to give in when they are not comfortable.
We are not teaching people pleasing here, we are teaching respect and boundaries. If you don't like that, I'm sorry but I'm teaching my child that if they're not comfortable and don't want to be touched they have that right to not be. They can say no.

Another post on weaning from breastfeeding giving some tips on how to do this slowly 🙌🤱🏽
Repost from .nutrition

How to wean from breastfeeding
When i asked what you wanted to know about nursing past one, many of you actually wanted to know how to wean as well as how to postpone nursing, like if you’re out and about and don’t want to nurse right then.
There are many reasons why women choose to wean. Maybe they're just "over breastfeeding", maybe they are going to be separated from their baby so they want to slowly wean, or maybe there are other reasons. **Just note, if you and your baby are both enjoying breastfeeding and not ready to wean, then there is no reason to wean. Although society might put pressure on you to wean, there are many benefits to breastfeeding a toddler. Nonetheless if you'd like to wean, it's important to know how to go about it.
I recommend weaning to be a gradual process as opposed to going cold turkey. This will help prevent clogged ducts or mastitis, it can help with the emotional process since there is a shift in your hormones, as well as to protect your relationship with your baby, especially if they're not ready to wean. .
.
✔️Some basic tips:
➖Do not offer the breast, but do not refuse
➖redirect your baby if they ask for the breast "how about we do this first..." “or not right. Ow, but later...” I use both of these a lot when I don’t want to nurse right then and there
➖cut out one feeding/pump session a day, or limit the time at the breast, to slowly decrease your supply
➖if your baby goes to sleep at the breast, have someone else do sleep time routines
➖if your baby is old enough to understand, have a conversation about stopping breastfeeding
➖drink sage tea/peppermint tea, eat Altoids, take Sudafed to help decrease your supply
➖be prepared to experience some mood swings, due to the shift in hormones. I’ve got a post soon about the emotional side of weaning
How did you wean your baby?
