Big Day for Huey 609 today. The Huey team got more mast components mounted, the anti-collision light installed, all engine cowlings, all four door hinges installed, right side door mounted, right weapon pylon hardware replaced and then mounted on right side of aircraft, US Army and 60609 stenciled, and cut plexi glass for door.

Did you know that Vietnam Combat Veteran Helicopter crews will be on hand Saturday, 27 May for the Grand Opening of our new exhibit, Vietnam: The Helicopter War?

Huey and Cobra pilots, crew chiefs, and door gunners representing the 135th Assault Helicopter Company, 135th Assault Helicopter Company, and Troop F, 9th Cavalry that undertook major missions with our own helicopters will be on site in the hangar.

Come out to meet these heroes on this day only...and only at Battleship Cove!

Gunship 609 that served with the 176th and 135th AHC units in Vietnam from 1967-1972 is really coming together at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA. This new exhibit will open Memorial Day weekend 2023 and honors Vietnam Veterans along with all who served with rotary aircraft.

It is with great sadness we pass along the news of the passing of TAIPAN Gunships veteran Bill Hysmith of the 135th AHC. Bill was a supporter of the restoration of 609 and made the cover photo of this page.

For us at the museum, losing our veterans who we honor everyday is losing a family member.

The restoration of Taipan\Musket 609 will honor Bill and everyone who served in Vietnam... we remember.

The Maritime Museum is located two blocks South of the main complex and is open WED-SUN 10AM-3PM. Admission is FREE with your ticket to Batleship Cove. Maritime Museum tickets may also be purchased separately, (online or at the museum)
