🎒📚 Back-to-School Fun at Our Family Shelter! 🌭🎨

Families at our shelter recently enjoyed a wonderful Back-to-School Party filled with hamburgers, hot dogs, games, face painting, and lots of smiles. Children also received backpacks and school supplies to help them begin the new school year prepared and confident.

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fall River's family shelter can provide temporary housing for up to 54 families experiencing a homelessness crisis. Through supportive services and stabilization programming, we help families move from crisis to permanent housing and long-term stability.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible for the families we serve. ❤️

Connect with local organizations offering information and assistance with housing, SNAP benefits, health and wellness resources, disability services, MassHealth enrollment, technology help, and more. This free event is open to all community members.

Gratitude for Community Partnership

We are honored and grateful to announce that Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fall River has received a $34,000 grant from the Island Foundation, Inc. in support of our Immigration Legal Education, Assistance, and Placement (ILEAP) and Immigration Victims Representation Program (IVRP).

This generous investment will help us continue providing critical legal support, education, and advocacy for immigrants and vulnerable individuals throughout our region. The impact of this funding will be felt by the many families and individuals who depend on these services as they work toward stability, safety, and opportunity.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Island Foundation Board of Directors and Executive Director Denise Porché for their confidence in our mission and their commitment to strengthening our communities. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

In this week's Shepherd's Corner, Fr. Tom Washburn of Holy Trinity Parish of West Harwich reminds us that:
"As Christians, we cannot look away from those who are hungry, lonely, struggling, or without a place to call home. They are our neighbors, and they are our brothers and sisters in Christ."
Regarding St. Joseph House Shelter, Fr. Tom writes:
"I strongly support the proposed relocation of St. Joseph House to its new site. The shelter has a long history of providing safe, compassionate care for those who have nowhere else to turn."
He also invites our community to stand together:
"Your presence will be a powerful witness that our community believes every person deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives."
