It's been 33 years since Jonathan and Charlie were taken from us, yet my Jonathan still finds ways to let me know he's with me. On March 27th, my district nurse, Ms Kitty, made an unexpected visit to my office with a bouquet of flowers. She explained that she felt an inexplicable urge to bring them to me, going so far as to stop by multiple places before finding some at Albertsons. What she didn't know was that March 27th marks the 33rd anniversary of their tragic murder and one of the last places they visited was a flower shop and Jonathan went inside and asked how much a rose cost because he wanted to buy his mom a rose. He is with us always.

The plaque honors two boys. Jonathan Sellers and Charlie Keever. They were killed in a horrific crime in 1993, one that the Imperial Beach community never forgot.

Maria Keever and I have recently discovered that the plaque dedicated to Jonathan Sellers and Charlie Keever at the Outdoor Education Center has been stolen on the eve of Charlie's birthday. This incident has caused us significant distress, especially given that their picture has been taken and visitors will not see our beautiful son’s faces. We have contacted the police and the park and recreation department to address this matter. If you live in the area, please inform the police if you have any knowledge about the theft.

Today I recognize the 32nd anniversary of my son, Jonathan and Charlie’s murder. I am much better this year. I feel like I survived the eye of the hurricane. I am able to breathe for the first March 27th in a long time. Post traumatic growth. I will always miss you my angel.
