Director Lt. Gen. Ronald J. Place transferred directorship to Maj. Gen. (P) Telita Crosland during the Change of Directorship Ceremony on January 3, 2023. The ceremony was hosted by Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs Ms. Seileen Mullen.

On this momentous occasion the Army Nurse Corps office had the pleasure of seeing Lt. Gen. (R) Patricia Horoho former Surgeon General of the U.S Army and Army Nurse Corps Chief and Maj. Gen. ( R) Gale Po***ck former Army Nurse Corps Chief.

Congratulations to Lt. Gen. Place on his distinguished service. Best wishes to Maj. Gen. (P) Telita Crosland in her new position.

The presiding officer of the ceremony was LTG Ronald Place; Director, Defense Health Agency. BG Fligge served in the Air Force for 32 years.

COL (ret.) Taylor joined the Army Nurse Corps in 1945 at the end of WWII. Joining her at her 100th birthday celebration was her family, fellow nurses and LTC (ret.) Ludie Vanderbilt.

There is an opportunity for select USAR Army Nurse Officers to assess onto active duty in the
following specialties:
66C (Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Nurse), 66E (Perioperative Nurse),
66G (Obstetric/Gynecologic Nurse), and 66W (Nurse Midwife).
Officers must be in the rank of CPT.
66C with a Date of Rank (DOR) 9/2/2017 to 9/1/2020.
66E with a DOR of 9/2/2016 to 9/1/2018 and 9/2/2019 to 9/1/2021.
66G with a DOR of 9/2/2016 to 9/1/2021.
Officers must have completed the Basic Officer Leadership Course (BOLC) are eligible to
apply.

Congratulations to LTC Louis M. Magyar! He has been selected as the 66P Family Nurse Practitioner Consultant to The Surgeon General!
He is currently assigned as the Chief Nursing Officer, 30th Medical Brigade, Rhine Ordanance Barracks, Germany. LTC Magyar’s appointment is indicative of his outstanding military career, and is a clear indicator that he is truly a subject matter expert in his field.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to the outgoing Surgeon General Consultant, COL Jenifer A. Meno, for her outstanding support and commitment as a TSG Consultant. The Army Nurse Corps is excited to announce LTC Christopher Stucky as the 2022 Dr. Anita Newcomb McGee Army Nurse of the Year Award winner.

LTC Stucky serves as the Perioperative Consultant (66E) to the Army Surgeon General and as a Nurse Scientist at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), Germany. The award was presented during the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) National Defense Night held on July 2nd, 2022. The award is named in honor of McGee, a respected American physician who founded the Army Nurse Corps in 1901.
