A huge thank you to the Jorn and Ramsey families for thinking of us and bringing goodies to the office! The donuts definitely didn't last long, and that sourdough bread was absolutely amazing. We're pretty sure it disappeared even faster than the donuts! 😋

Your kindness and support mean so much to all of us. Thank you for keeping our deputies and staff fueled and feeling appreciated. We are grateful for our wonderful community! ❤️

The Richardson County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce that we have been approved to receive funding through the Fiscal Year 2025 Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Program administered by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. RCSO has been awarded $1,990.57 towards to purchase of new ballistic vests.

This grant program helps law enforcement agencies purchase lifesaving ballistic vests for their officers, ensuring that those who serve and protect our communities have access to modern, reliable protective equipment. Officer safety remains one of our highest priorities, and programs like the Bulletproof Vest Partnership help us continue equipping our deputies with the tools they need to safely perform their duties.

We are grateful to the Office of Justice Programs and the Bureau of Justice Assistance for their continued support of law enforcement agencies across the country. This funding helps reduce the financial burden on local taxpayers while allowing us to maintain the highest standards of safety and preparedness for our deputies.

The men and women of the Richardson County Sheriff's Office put themselves in harm's way every day to serve our communities. Investing in their safety is an investment in the safety of Richardson County as a whole.

During the May 15th–31st Make It Click Highway Safety Grant, four Richardson County Sheriff's Office deputies dedicated additional time and effort to improving traffic safety throughout our county.

As part of this enforcement campaign, deputies conducted 119 traffic stops, issued 44 citations, and made 26 arrests. These proactive efforts were focused on increasing seat belt usage, reducing dangerous driving behaviors, and keeping our roadways safe for everyone.

We would like to thank our deputies for their hard work and commitment to public safety, as well as the citizens who continue to make responsible choices behind the wheel. Every seat belt worn, every impaired driver removed from the road, and every safe driving decision helps prevent tragedies.

Remember, buckling up takes just a few seconds and could save your life. Drive safely, wear your seat belt, and help us keep Richardson County a safe place to live, work, and travel.

This weekend, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage and service will never be forgotten.

From all of us at the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.🇺🇸🎆

Early this morning, Richardson County deputies arrested a driver for DUI after observing signs of impairment during a traffic stop. The driver provided a preliminary breath test roadside showing a BAC of .235, nearly three times the legal limit.

Driving under the influence puts everyone on the road at risk and could have easily ended in tragedy. Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident.

The Richardson County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone, if you plan to drink, make a plan for a safe ride home. Call a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or stay where you are. No convenience is worth risking your life or the lives of others.

Please do your part to help keep Richardson County roads safe. Don’t drink and drive.

⚠️🌪️ WEATHER ALERT 🌪️⚠️

Mother Nature is apparently feeling a little spicy this afternoon. With the threat of tornadoes, large hail, and severe weather moving into the area after 1330 hours, we’d like to remind everyone to stay weather aware, stay safe, and maybe… stay home.

This especially applies to our local criminals.
We kindly ask that all illegal activity, suspicious behavior, shenanigans, tomfoolery, and bad decisions be postponed until further notice. Our deputies would also prefer not to chase anyone through a tornado warning.

Please charge your phones, secure outdoor items, and have a safety plan in place. We’ll still be out serving the community — rain, hail, or flying cows. 🌧️🐄

Stay safe out there, everyone! 💙

Beginning May 15th through May 31st, 2026, deputies with the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the national “Make It Click” seatbelt enforcement grant campaign.

Our goal is simple, save lives.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of the people killed in traffic crashes who had known seatbelt status were not wearing a seatbelt. NHTSA also reports that seatbelts reduce the risk of fatal injury by approximately 45% for front seat passenger car occupants and save thousands of lives every year.

In 2024, 56% of passenger vehicle occupants killed in nighttime crashes were not wearing seatbelts. Young adults between the ages of 18 and 34 had some of the highest percentages of unrestrained fatalities.

Seatbelts are one of the simplest and most effective safety devices ever created. Taking a few seconds to buckle up can make the difference between life and death.

During this enforcement period, deputies will be conducting additional traffic enforcement with an emphasis on seatbelt compliance and occupant safety.

Make the smart choice every trip, every time.
