The Fallsburg Central School District Board of Education is accepting letters of interest and resumes for the vacancy on the Board of Education created by the resignation of Wasima Shahid. This term of office will expire on June 30, 2028.

Letters of interest and resumes must be submitted by August 28, 2026; interviews will be conducted at a special meeting of the Board of Education on September 23, 2026. Depending on the number of candidates who express interest in being appointed to the position, the Board may select up to two candidates to be interviewed by the Board in public session prior to the Board voting to select the successful candidate.

This week, we held our annual Community Resource Days at various locations around the school district to distribute food, clothing, school supplies, resources, and other special goodies. It is a testament to how providing material support can go a long way in our student's academic success. Thank you very much to our wonderful community for making our Community Resource Days extra special! 🖤💛☄

Early Learning Classroom Spotlight: Fallsburg Central School District

What happens when you combine soccer with project-based learning?

First graders in Shannon Peterson's class designed soccer-themed math games, researched and wrote books about their favorite players, and explored force and motion through hands-on science investigations. The unit culminated with students confidently presenting their work to families and community members.

By connecting learning to students' interests, this project transformed math, literacy, and science into meaningful, real-world experiences.

If you attended last night's National Night Out at Morningside Park, we hope you had a terrific time! We especially hope that you visited our amazing Hope Squad tent to take home some of their goodies and valuable mental health resources. Within its first year, this team has done a phenomenal job reducing the barriers and stigma surrounding student mental health. We wish nothing but the absolute best for our Hope Squad team in the upcoming school year!🖤💛☄

The Fallsburg Central School District is proud to announce its newest elementary principal, Pamela Carr!

Ms. Carr has served as an assistant principal for Benjamin Cosor Elementary School for the previous four years. Prior to her administrative career, she was a teacher at the Minisink Valley and Middletown school districts for over 16 years.

When asked about her priorities in her first year as principal, she intends to build from her experience and focus on programs that meet the needs of students, such as their project-based learning initiatives and the newly implemented statewide Portrait of a Graduate program. Ms. Carr said, “It is a process in which students are, in a sense, in charge of their own learning and growing. It really helps them become an effective communicator, lifelong learner, and good citizen.”

The district wishes her the best of luck in her new role and looks forward to the impact her leadership will have on the Fallsburg school community. “I’m truly excited to continue my role in education here,” said Ms. Carr. “I’m excited at the ability to impact so many students.”
