On Wednesday, December 13th the Falmouth Conservation Commission will hold a hearing about a Notice of Intent (NOI) proposed by the Black Beach Harbor Head Neighborhood Association to place an unlocked gate at the access point to the development from the shining sea bike path, near mile marker 6.7.
The stewards of this library (Mallory and Alan) have noticed an increase in traffic to this page in the last ten days, ever since the Falmouth Enterprise ran an article about the gate and the surrounding controversy. You can find that article at the attached link.
We plan to be at the ConCom meeting on Wednesday to make our opinions against this gate known, and have already sent a written comment in advance of the meeting.
We encourage those who enjoy passing through this area who feel strongly about the gate to do the same. The purpose of these meetings is to consider all the opinions related to a proposal, and ConCom actively seeks comment. You can submit comment by emailing [email protected].
We aren't trying to stir additional controversy by making this post, but feel that being quiet about this is not who we are. We love books and libraries because we believe in access to information. It felt important to share this information with our readers, and invite you to share your thoughts about the matter as appropriate.
Regardless of what is decided on Wednesday, the gate will not be locked, and those who wish to continue to visit our library are encouraged to do so!
The Black Beach Harbor Head Civic Association will go before the conservation commission next month to get permission to put a gate at the entrance of Little Neck Bars Road
