Must come to meeting or training 3 times in a row, if not you start over and then get voted on. Basic Training classes are a requirement and they are a 3 day class. This class can be taken after you get on and normally they are out of town. You will be required to take N.I.M.S. online classes 100, 200, 300, 700. before being new member.
A. The primary purpose of the Pendleton County Search and Rescue Department, is to provide high quality volunteer service to the Citizens of Pendleton County, Kentucky, and to other persons within the state. Service to persons in other areas may be prov1ded if needed, in accordance w1th the provisions of Article 7, Section 'c" of these bylaws.
B. The primary mission of the Pendleton County Search and Rescue, is to provide emergency rescue service and non-emergency public services to the People of Pendleton County. The Department shall provide rescue and rescue-Related functions for which trained personnel and equipment are available without charge, to carry out this missions.
C. Primary emergency services prov1ded or performed by the Department shall include:
1) Water rescue and recovery;
2) search and rescue mission for any lost or missing person, downed or m1551ng aircraft, or missing disaster victim, except that the Department shall not conduct searches for any criminal suspect, escaped prisoner or other search which is primarily of a law enforcement nature;
3) Rescue of persons from collapsed buildings capabilities of the Department, given that

The Department is not an Urban
Search and Rescue (USAR) organization;
4) Disaster-related rescue services, including the services mentioned above, the rescue of persons trapped by disaster or severe weather conditions, the transportation of persons or material deemed essential to public safety by the Department, assistance in restoring Vital public services, evacuation of persons from any damaged or threatened area, and any other rescue or public safety function for which trained personnel and equipment is available;
Emergency medical first response, upon the request of an EMS agency, or under the terms of an agreement with any such agency;
D. Primary non-emergency services provided or performed by the Department shall be;
1) Public educational and awareness activities, such as safety courses or educational programs; and
2) All fund-raising activities allowed by law for the support and funding of the Department, including the performance of non-rescue services.
E. Secondary emergency services prov1ded or performed by the Department shall include:
1) Assistance at hazardous materials incidents, within the limits of the

F. A Department response to any Situation or 1ncident shall always be contingent upon the availability of an adequate number of trained personnel and an adequate supply of appropriate equipment to conduct the mission. Further, the Department shall not be obligated to engage 1n any mission or prov1de any serv1ce which might result 1n unusual danger to any Department member or other person. The officers of the Department, as defined by Article 8 of these Bylaws, shall have the sole and final authority to determine whether or not the Department shall respond, or 1f activated, continue to respond, to any m1351on or 1nc1dent.
G. the Department shall not be obligated to respond to non-emergency m1551ons under any c1rcumstances; the performance of those Department missions listed 1n section D (above) shall be entirely at the discretion of the Department, and shall be determined by the officers and members 1n accordance with the established polrc1es of the Department.
H.The follow1ng ideas shall govern the Department's response to all m1551ons:
l) Trained and qualified rescuers are essential 1f a rescue mission is to be properly conducted. The Department shall make reasonable efforts to insure that members are qualified to perform their duties properly and safely.
I\)No matter how many persons or how much property is saved, or what public good 15 done, 1f a missions costs the life or health of any rescuer, 1t 15 unsuccessful. Our highest duty shall always be to protect the health and safety of our personnel.
3) On any m1551on, our focus must always be on the person(s) requiring our assistance. We work for the good of the patent.
