Social Media Use Guidelines
Falmouth Public Schools (FPS) uses district-managed social media platforms to communicate information about the district and our schools. FPS uses Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for its district presence, and pages for each school. Profile sites are set up by the district, and overseen by the district's Webmaster, Social Media Manager, and principal-approved

designees at each school, who help develop content. We update social media pages often to share news about our school district and schools, the achievements of the students and staff, and other relevant district information. In times of inclement weather that necessitate school closing or other school-related emergencies, the pages will be updated in conjunction with the alerting of local and area media. All comments posted on any of our social media pages are at the discretion of the page administrators. The page administrators will review all postings to ensure they do not violate the district’s Acceptable Use Guidelines regarding Internet access and practices and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act provisions. Individuals making comments on the pages are requested to respect their fellow users by ensuring the discussion remains civil, especially since social media platforms allow individuals 13 and over to join. Comments are also subject to the platform's Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. Remember that your name and photo will be next to your comment, visible to anyone visiting the page. Participants must post under their real names. Posts by pseudonyms, group names, and fake profiles may be removed. The district welcomes thoughts and comments and looks forward to what you have to say. However, we will not leave postings that:
• Contain abusive, discriminatory, or inappropriate language or statements. This includes remarks that contain obscenities or are sexually explicit.
• Easily identify students and/or staff in defamatory, abusive, or generally negative terms. If you disagree with the content, we ask that you refrain from personal attacks or being disrespectful to others.
• Do not show proper consideration for others’ privacy or are considered likely to offend or provoke others – i.e. don’t pick fights or goad others into inflammatory debates. Malicious intent and participation not in the spirit of civil conversation will be excluded.
• Are Off Topic. We will exclude comments not related to the subject of the conversation. Please contact us via email if you have a question on a different topic. It is always best to start with the person most involved with your topic (eg, classroom teacher, building principal).
• Are spam – i.e. repeatedly posting the same comment or comments that are simply advertising/promoting a service or product.
• Break the law or encourage others to do so. This includes respecting copyright and fair use laws. If you are talking about somebody else’s work, reference this or the person, and where possible include a link. The page administrators reserve the right to not post or remove any comments at any time, for any reason. Repeat offenders will be blocked from posting. Send an email to [email protected] if you have feedback or would like to report an inappropriate comment for us to review.

The Spanish Honor Society at FHS has created around 75 Bilingual Kindness Rocks and set them out in different areas of the community. We received a mini grant from the FEF who funded this project! In connection with The Kindness Rocks Project, we would like to adhere to their motto that "One message at just the right moment can change someone's entire day, outlook, and life." Each rock is a small reminder that kindness is universal and that language can bring us together. We encourage anyone who finds one to please take a picture with it- post it on instagram: tag us: .Spanish.Honorssociety or . We would love to hear from you! People can keep the rock or put it out for someone else to discover! Some areas include (but are not limited to): Falmouth Bike Path, Thomas Landers Rd. Bog Restoration Area, Falmouth Library, Grasslands Harbor in Catumet, Chappy Beach, North Elementary School, Lazy Sundaes Ice Cream in Cataumet, and Beebe Woods. VIPS is pleased to announce the May “Student Volunteer of the Month,” is FHS senior Giada Ditacchio, daughter of April Ditacchio of East Falmouth.

Giada is a member of the National Honors Society, Math Honors Society, and French Honors Society. She has earned a Seal of Biliteracy in French. Giada is a member of FHS Student Government and serves as President of the Class of 2026. She received a 2025 award from the Society of Women Engineers and was the 2025 World Language award winner from the Trustees of Falmouth Public Library. At FHS, Giada is a member of the FHS Morning News and Down to Earth Club. She is a hockey player, and was a member of the FHS Varsity Hockey team, receiving a sportsmanship award for the 2023, 2025, and 2026 seasons and a coaches award in 2025. She is also a member of the Cape Cod Storm hockey team.

Giada’s volunteer time includes helping in the Falmouth Senior Center’s Chappy Café kitchen, PTO child care, and in the VIPS office. She also volunteers with various hockey camps and the Boston Bruins Academy Learn to Play program as well as the Falmouth Road Race.

Giada enjoys the social aspect of volunteering. “I’ve met so many people and learned so much about my community and aspects of life that I may not have learned of had I not volunteered,” she says. “Volunteering has helped me get out of my comfort zone and made me a kinder person.” A volunteer experience that has had special mean to Giada is her time spent in the Falmouth Senior Center Chappy Café. “The past two summers I learned how to work in a professional kitchen, putting my culinary skills to use while serving seniors in my community,” she says. “I learned so much being there, not only about getting a job in the restaurant industry or cooking a meal for my friends and family, but the close-knit community I became a part of. I had so much fun and always looked forward to my shift there. It didn’t feel like a job,” she says.

Falmouth Public Schools Regal Seagulls Robotics Team Qualifies for 2026 World Championship

FALMOUTH, MA — April 2026 — Falmouth Public Schools is proud to announce that the Regal Seagulls robotics team has qualified for the 2026 World Championship robotics competition, to be held in Houston, Texas from April 29 through May 2.

In just its second year, the Regal Seagulls have quickly established themselves as a competitive force, ranking 15th among more than 200 teams across New England. Fewer than half of teams advance to District Championships, and only a small percentage earn a place at the World Championship level.

The team’s success reflects the dedication and perseverance of its students and mentors. Composed of fourteen students from Falmouth High School and Lawrence Junior High School, the team has committed countless hours to designing, building, and programming their robot while balancing rigorous academic schedules.

As the team prepares for the World Championship, an anonymous donor has established a matching grant to support their participation, which will match community contributions up to $10,000.

Community members interested in learning more about the Regal Seagulls robotics team and ways to support their efforts may visit the team’s webpage at https://fhs.falmouth.k12.ma.us/robotics or contact [email protected] for additional information.

The Regal Seagulls would like to gratefully thank their current sponsors including Falmouth Public Schools, Falmouth Education Foundation, the Gene Haas Foundation, The Falmouth Fund of the Cape Cod Foundation, Cape Cod Regional STEM Network, Falmouth Toyota, The MIT Club of Cape Cod, The Valle Group, and Richards Design Inc.
